But the question was why is Neal not playing over Morrow on the first unit PP, and the answer is they play different roles on the PP itself, at least ideally.
It's Neal's burst to loose pucks and rebounds that I want on the PP. Morrow looks so caught up in the physical battle in front of the net, he is losing where the pill is.

That makes sense.

I am a bit of a lunatic. Can't let it go. It is not I want to be right somehow. I just want the rules to more closely resemble the game that is actually played. Going to do some more digging, but thank you for the helpful posts.
Oh, there are a lot of problems I have with certain rules as they are written, but the fact remains that what's written is the rule (if that makes sense). It's like the whole Ovechkin-crease issue. You can make a very good case the rule is too literal and not open enough to situational interpretation, but the rule as written is the rule right now.

If you are really interested in the ins and outs of rules and refereeing, I can point you to a group on this board that does a lot of good work with that. If not, you can learn a ton from reading the rulebook itself and understanding that everything is meant to be taken at face value in it.

Is Razor saying "Vandell" now, too? I'm confused.

lol Grossman on the PP point now... flailing away in the dark.

And now they give up a shortie. Pathetic.

Something has to be done about this.

I didn't know about the group on the board. I will definitely check it out.

The possession rule, to me, just fails to capture so much of the game. ie. a slow roller up the boards and two players engage physically as they reach it. A lot of situations. So much of play behind the net and along the boards as well.

All sports have a blend of tradition mixed with rulebook that yields the true game, like how holding in the NFL is technically always illegal but never called unless the hands are outside of the shoulders, and there are always trends in the way the game is called. Maybe it is as simple as that. While Jovo was technically interfering, the parlance of the game still says that it is traditionally and practically not.

ugh. and a shorty. well crap.

Has this team given up more road shorties than it's scored road power play goals?

Also, Richards needs to get off the point because it's just not working, and Raycroft had a huge 5-hole on that.

Guarantee that'll be the last we see of Grossman on the PP this year.

No, Richards needs to stay on the point. He's excellent on the point. He just needs a partner on the blueline who isn't completely useless.

Fiddler more dropped that than Ott actually chopped it, but eh, if they're going to lose the special teams battle, why not lose it spectacularly, eh?

If they had one of those on this team, I would agree with you. But they don't, so having Richards back there only serves to make the PP completely one-dimensional and predictable.

Another amazing save by Raycroft.

Stars just standing around, they've given up.

Ya one of the problems with the PP is that we're essentially playing 4 on 4. We have 0 good options on the Left point, Niskanen and Daley are only good for burping it up at the line or pumping it back down low. We need MAB or some sort of bomb from the point, to give more options. ATM PKs can just ignore the 2nd pointman and concentrate on pressuring Richards with 2 guys.

Also doesn't help Morrow sucks.

Grossman, you suck in the offensive half of the ice. Absolutely suck.

Who the hell was defending on that 2-on-1 and basically did nothing of substance?

Robidas, extra special fail to you. I expect that out of Niskanen but you know how to play that better.

Our defense would fall apart eventually. Brutal, brutal game by the men on the blueline.
