Wow Cam's save on Boyes was sick!!!

Agreed, 3 out of 4 points against two great teams in Dallas and St. Louis is pretty good...

Still hate the shootout. 3-on-3 would be better.

Tonight's was another reason why the shootout doesn't make sense. Last night, the game should have ended in a tie, since both teams couldn't gain an edge over the other. Tonight, St. Louis only getting a point when they dominated much of the game is baffling.

I still absolutely detest shootouts.

But holy ****, that was a Vezina worthy game out of Ward.

He took a shot off the side of the head in the 3rd and seemed a bit dazed after that. Then he got up really slowly after one of the shootout attempts. He worked his buns off tonight, so I really hope he's just tired after two OT games in two nights.

3 out of 4 points. As much as we ***** about this team recently, that's a pretty good haul against 2 high quality opponents on the road.

Also, the PK is so incredibly better right now and the defense being played by Dmen is improved greatly. If we can get our F to lock some people down we might stay in this. I assume Cam starts the next and then sits game 4 of these 4, is that accurate?

Curse you, night shift job!

Glad to know the Canes finally won another shootout. Sounds like Ward was in God mode once again.

I'll admit, 1-0-1 against Dallas and St. Louis on the road is much more than I originally hoped for. Maybe...well, let's not get too far ahead of ourselves.

I think we should see Peters against Florida and Ward against Atlanta.

Watching the highlights on NHL On The Fly, they seemed to show a lot of Carolina's scoring chances and very few St. Louis opportunities. Although, Ward made some sick saves, he's really played well lately.

On another note, I love listening to Darren Pang's yelling when goalies make unbelievable saves. "WHOA!!"

According to tsn.ca, Ward has now stopped 10 of 14 shots in shootouts this season. So much for being a terrible shootout goalie...

This makes so much sense even Maurice might not screw it up.

I don't think Cam is the problem in the shootout, although, at times he can have a really bad showing in that department. But for me, when you have 0 or 1 guy converting on the shootout, you are going to lose more often than not and that's not a product of a goalie. Take Dallas. Cam stopped 2 out of 3, which should be good enough for a win, but our guys went 0-3.

Oh I totally get that, but his numbers before this season haven't been good in the shootout. Thus you get the "Cam sucks in the shootout" whenever he lets one in.

Jokinen's goal last night was a welcome adjustment. He faked his usual move and then went backhand high. Nice to see.

It is scary to think that only Jokinen and Skinner have scored in the shootout this year. You could put Harrison in there 5 times and he should score one or two times.

This. Raycroft isn't exactly some shootout ace goalie either. But it almost seems like we're the only team in the league that doesn't practice for the shootout. I know that's not the case, Boston and Tampa both absolutely blow in the shootout as well. Tampa especially is confusing in that regard. But those are the only two teams that have been consistently worse then the Canes in the shootout the past 2.5 years now.

IDK... I think we'll see Ward against Florida and Atlanta. He should be able to handle a back-to-back after 3 days rest. Then, Mo sacrifices Peters against the Ducks on Saturday.

True enough, and frankly it make sense to take the greater risk on the points when you're not potentially handing points to a team that could keep you out of the playoffs in the process.

Good call, I wasn't looking far enough ahead. I just assumed Peters would get a start at one point on the road trip, but you're right, they need wins against divisional teams a lot more than against the Ducks.
