I don't think you'll have a choice. Walford will end up at 7+, I'd think, and Veasey won't. If you can afford him, I'd definitely go for Walford, but I don't think you'll be able to afford him at the end.

yeh i think your right.

plus i dont like the sound of walford just being a 1 season rental cos i couldnt afford him next season. plus i doubt there will be the same quality of freeagents next season.

is was always a toss up between walford and veasey

only thing that concerns me about veasey is he only scored 9 times last season and his age.... i like mine crazy young lol

Z, I think there's going to be quite a few elite (85+ EPA) players on the market this year, as over-saturation drove their prices down and they'll want beefy raises next year.

If I were in your shoes, I'd look for a guy to replace Boivin. He SUCKS offensively, and is just draining the potential of your top line.

EDIT: After some poking around, Veasey and Walford are, by far, the two best candidates available in the FA market right now to replace him.

The only other dude who comes close is this guy;

http://trophyhockey.org/player.php?id=86061

And he's a third liner at best, and better suited for a wing spot.

I was actually just offered a really good, 77 EPA, 26 yea old offensive center this morning. He's a 71 avg and 70 trv and American so his wages are under 2.5m. The guy wanted Plumer who I have received tons of offers for but I really don't need any more centers so I declined but if I needed a center I would have gone for it.

Now that I've made Ziotree wet, I have to admit I don't know who the guy is since I declined but even if I did I don't think I would post him just so a division rival that is 2 points behind me can make the guy an offer.

Gotta give Nik some credit today. He actually stuck to a schedule and kept everyone updated throughout. Now that I said that I'm sure the ME will get stuck on Uraguay or something right before our games.

i know boivin sucks offensively but at the time i was in desperate need for a centre so i got him via free agency

also im gathering if i got veasey or walford you would play them at centre then.

While I agree that my players are currently better, I would actually be lowering my team salary by nearly 350K. Additionally, I would be getting significantly younger. 4 years on defense and 4 years on offense.

I feel that the 27/28 range is the best time to trade someone if I wanted to get fair value for them. From this point on they will only get worse and lose TRV.

Anyone else think this is a viable reason to accept the trade as is?

Depends on what you wanna do. I like to win championships, so taking steps back, even if I get younger, isn't ideal. Given the bounty the FA market will probably hold again next year, I'd turn down the trade and make some moves this coming offseason to get younger.

The next FA won't be as good as this one but if you jump on things quickly and snipe a bit then there will still be a lot to be had.

Yeah, won't be as good, but they'll still be pretty good. Plenty of dudes like you will be forced to rip apart their rosters to keep the higher-end players and will have to dip back into FA for players again. It's gonna be a viscous cycle until there's enough human HC's to absorb FA supply.

Thankfully I signed way too many players and I have a couple of older players that I'll cut. I have a 2.2M 31 year-old winger, for instance.

I would like to pick up a 4-5Mish winger in FA and keep my defensive lines.

Also, my big center which cost 6M+ will likely get a huge pay cut to the tune of 2M.

It really is retarded. 121 leagues and over 3,800 teams makes for almost 2,000 games every damn day. All that for 287 GM's.

The USA has 80 less leagues, thousands less teams and 25% more head coaches. It makes no sense.

Lost 2-0. Even with my injuries I outplayed them, too. That sucks.

I need my team to get healthy and to 99/99 so I can start steamrolling again.

I think, at one time, CAN had many more coaches. That's all that would make sense.

Maybe Nik should cut down the #'s of teams and leagues...

I'd be all for it, still trying to find a team to get on again... I am thinking of going US....

Maybe because they need more teams to support the massive amount of players/talent from there

won 4-0

Morgan threw up a crappy game (2 goals on 11 shots) but I still pulled out the win thanks to two late goals including the winning goal on the PP with about 5 minutes left. Their goalie is one of the better goalies in what is a pretty goalie-loaded league.
