Pierre LeBrun: Lightning among four teams Brad Richards is interested in

Not really new to us but: From last night's hotstove, around 5:50: http://www.cbc.ca/video/#/Sports/CBC.../ID=1692668917

Pierre LeBrun says he talked to a lot of people around the league "and the four teams on July 1st that would interest him (Richards)" are:

- Stars
- Rangers
- Lightning
- Kings

Do it SFY, do it, do it, do it... If Richards not sign a new contract with the Stars and he will be free agent in summer, I pray that he signed a contract with us at a reasonable price, of course Oh man, our top6 would look like an all-star lines
Richards - Stamkos - St. Louis
Malone - Lecavalier - Downie/Gagne

"If Chris Gratton can play for the Lightning three times, why can't I?"

Something along those lines was said by Richy they day he was traded. I want Richards back so badly

St Louis - Stammer - Downie/Malone/Richards
Gagne - Vinny - Downie/Malone/Richards
Purcell - Moore - Downie/Malone

naaaaaaaasty

Unless, of course, both are willing to take massive pay cuts, one would think that the return of Richards would come at the expense of Gagne.

I'm inclined to project something along the lines of this:

Downie-Stamkos-St. Louis
Purcell-Richards-Lecavalier
Malone-Moore-Harju

I can hope for something like this

Quote:
Kariya, who played with the Mighty Ducks last season, agreed to a $1.2 million contract, according to a source within the N.H.L. who spoke to the A.P. on the condition of anonymity. Kariya earned $10 million in his final season with Anaheim.
that would be siiiiiick

I'd love to have Brad back, but SFY should be focusing on a goalie or defense. I think up front we're fine.

i think NYR has the better chance of landing Richards due to the fact that they can just throw money at anyone anytime

2nd would be TB, the Yzerman regime would be very appealing for Richards

3rd Dallas

30th LA lol...

LA is always in every single rumor on earth and we've signed 0 so far...so that's a probability of.....0%

ya but imagine if Richards ignites LeCavalier again

Tampa would be so freakin' dangerous

i'd do a line of

Malone - Stamkos - Downie
LeCavalier - Richards - St Louis

just for the hell of it

Want Richards back so BAD!!!!!!!! SFY make it happen please! I know we need a goalie, just this man bleeds black blue and white. He should of never left, only had too because of those clowns. Great point man on the power play, good friend of Vinny who can maybe turn him back into his old self. One of the best passers in the league. Rarely throws a hit, which kinda is a draw back but the man makes it up with so much more.

Former playoff MVP. Really wants to be reunited with his old friend Vinny and says openly he regrets taking that huge of a pay day last time. Bring him back Steve, please I beg of you!!!

Downie-Stamkos-MSL
Gagne-Richards-Vinny

Jesus christ!

Depending on the contract I'd take him. I think he should be looking for and deserves more than I would be willing to pay however.

Who needs a goalie when you're icing those four lines:

Downie - Stamkos - St. Louis
Gagne - Richards - Lecavalier
Malone - Moore - Purcell
Bergenheim - Thompson - Hall

Acquire two goalies at 0.500m/0.100m each and get this party started!

(Let me dream)

if he will take around 4.5 - 5M i'd be okay with it. But we do not NEED him. We NEED a goalie and another D

I love Richards as much as anyone, but I don't see how this would work out unless he is going to play here instead of Gagne for similar $$.

He only has a year left, UFA after this season. Said numerous of times he regrets taking so much, he could be had for less if he enjoys the team. With his BFF Vinny on the team, I dont think it will be a problem. He already made his money.

You are probably right. I'm pretty sure he still keeps a condo/house here. Considering he has already set his grand kids up for life with the contract Feaster gave him maybe he wants to end his career with his friend and the reason he wore #19.

Pretty sure he could sign for 5-6 million per year, we can trade Malone/Gagne and we're even.

I feel that Lecavalier would improve so much with Richards in his line...

5-6 million would be great.

We wouldn't even need to trade Malone, Gagne makes 5.25M so he would account for most if not all of the salary anyway, plus when you factor in Smith who makes 2.2 will be gone it opens up more than enough space to keep Malone, sign Stamkos and add more pieces.

Yep.

I see so many reasons why Richard would want to come back but the biggest problem may be Yzerman. Not sure what his plans are, but if Richards called him up and said I want to come back, I m sure they could work something out

I didn't read any of this thread so I may be repeating things:

We have the cap room to pull it off but the question is whether or not it is the right move for our current team composition.

We currently have Lecavalier and Stamkos. Adding another center would mean that we are a bit clogged up the middle. Now you could make the suggestion that one of these players moves to the wing but I think I would rather keep them at center honestly.

We have $12 Million in cap room currently. We need to sign Stamkos during this off-season and then sign Hedman in the following off-season. These are things that need to be kept in mind moving forward. The last thing we need is a cap situation when Hedman's contract is up.

I think it is safe to make the assumption that Gagne won't be back next season. I just have a feeling he will want to move on. The last thing we really need to be adding is another center when we already have two good centers. The truth is that our real problem is goaltending. I would just be uncomfortable spending money and space on Richards when center is clearly not our problem. This is coming from someone who actually wants Richards on the team extremely badly. :p

I would just rather shore up (or at least attempt) our current problems.

I kind of agree with what your saying. To be honest I dont see Gagne being on this team after this year anyhow. Moving Vinny to the wing however could be just what the doctor had ordered. Add in the fact that Vinny seems to be a little bit emotionally unstable, having Brad Richards on the team to help him get through the tough times like he did before when Vinny was being labeled as bust(If you remember the article of Brad Richards having a sit down talk with him, shortly after he became the beast that dominated the league.) he could revitalize his career.

Vinny's 7 mill a season cap hit wont look so horrible then. Give Richards Gagne's money when hes gone and we still have 12 million in cap space to resign Stamkos and worry about other assets like goaltending. It could really be a match made in heaven, again.
