I like seeing all this praise for Bournival. Never got to watch him play though, does anybody watch him on a regular basis and can explain what level his game is at? Just makes me wonder what this guys potential is.

Thought this also. I feel like it'll come down to Bournival's 2-way play vs Nugent-Hopkins offense, and i think they'll go with Bournival. Just a hunch.

They only keep UA players if they are top offensive guys, as you said Bournival is probably a much better all around player.

He knew the goalie would think the same thing as you and that it would distract him.

On the WJC board for Team Finland they are saying the top line might be,

Rajala - Nättinen - Armia

That would be unbelievable news if its true. I'm assuming he's quite underused on the Espoo Blues and this is a great chance to show his worth on a big stage. Hope he does well!

Congrats to Leblanc for making the team. It'll be nice watching a Habs prospect on Team Canada again. Loved watching P.K. and Price. It'll be interesting to see how Leblanc performs at this level.

And, good luck to Bournival, although I don't think he'll make it.

Scratches for Team Canada vs Univ team: 4 returnees, Ellis, de Haan, Cowen, Schenn plus Johansen, Leblanc, Kassian, Cizikas.

All but Cizikas are guaranteed spots on the team. Cizikas may make it, or not, but isn't playing tonight because of injury.

Sorry if I missed this. Any word/idea whether the Russians intend to invite Alexander Avtsin?

Given that Avtsin's still a teenager, plays pro hockey in North America (AHL's Hamilton Bulldogs) and the proximity of the tourney (Buffalo).

One would assume he would get the call. Or does it make too much sense? Perhaps bias?

Avtsin didn't get the call.

There's no real explanation why but a lot of people think him coming over to NA is part of the reason.

Well he's playing in the AHL so that might be the reason. He wasnt released for the subway serie so that didnt help.

But on the team russia board they think they would be a better team with him in the lineup

McKenzie believes that it's down to 7 players (Bournival among them) for the remaining 5 wing spots (3 wing spots taken by Schwartz, Leblanc and Kassian)

I'd say Bournival has a good shot; it rides on tonight's game I think. He's playing on a line with Brandon Pirri and Jaden Schwartz. We'll see I guess.

The line up could look something like this :

Kassian - Schenn - Connoly
Leblanc - Johansen - Schwarz
Eakin - Couturier - Pirri
Foligno - Sheahan - Hamilton

extra : Cizikas (injured), Nugent-Hopkins
*I'D love to see Bournival but don't think he'll make it... I don't think they should keep Hamilton and Foligno but chemistry is important

Ellis - de Haan
Gudbranson - Cowan
Pysyk - Olsen
Murphy (really like what the kid brings)

Roy
Pickard
(BobMac said Visentin was ahead I think but he is shaky imo)

This will be Nattinen's third year in a row as a key Centre for Team Finland. Even as an underaged player at the WJC in Ottawa two years ago, he played quite regularly on both special teams for Team Finland.

Hardworking, lots of speed, nice shot and nice hockey sense. Not a Tough guy at all, but he likes to give hits. He is a very shy guy.

Still, this will the first year where he plays with the best players, especially if he plays 1st pp unit. He didn't last year, that i know for sure.

Good kid! Earning points!

You can see Bournival's play on TSN. It's the second goal. He is #7.

After the game they played tonight, I think the goaltenders will be Roy and Visentin... Pickard didnt have his best game apparently and BobMac said Gudbranson played really bad...

Nugent-Hopkins and Pirri will probably get cut...
