On Frozen Pond
#FlaPanthers injury update: Cory Stillman was thought to be having back spasms; team says it's a fracture so much more serious than first thought.
I hope he recovers, and then retires.
He has nothing to prove anymore anyway. He won two cups WITH SOUTHEASTERN TEAMS as a great along the boards.
Time to sit back and crack open a cold one Cory, get well soon!
Its funny that you actually think not having stillman in our line up makes worse
There's nothing funny about it, it does. He's a smart vet with two Cup rings, who can still chip in over 30 pts. And he was building great chemistry with Reasoner and Dvorak. But no, Bill Thomas is better.

this is just a stupid comment, you know he's a great player with tremendous consistency, always puts up points. how can we be better off with bill thomas?

Because he was injured anyway, it's not like we're gonna get worse now that we know his back is broken.

Have you watched many games this season? Stillman has been our worst player in most games. He has taken so many stupid offensive penalties this season. We won't miss him at all. He's more of an momentum changer in favor of the other teams.
But I feel bad for the guy, hope he recovers for his own sake.
How was it a stupid comment?, He said his opinion, and I also agree with his opinion. Stillman has nothing left and should retire....
So, Thomas is then better than Stillman and we're now hurt in our efforts to get a number one pick because we have Thomas and not Stillman? Cause, that's what he said. And, I wish I had as much 'in the tank' as Stiller and he's older than me. Guy's a pro athlete and, unless you haven't been watching, was fitting in well on his line.

He took like three bad penalties that I can recall and he is slow but let's be reasonable here. He's not terrible. 8 pts in 20 games is better production than Mattias, Higgins, and all our call ups except for maybe Thomas.
He is over the hill but losing him will make us worse.

if he's over the hill, where the hell is recchi? that guy's still incredibly effective. neither are over the hill; they both are smart vets that are capable of producing and know what it takes to win.

What will really hurt is if we can't unload him at the deadline.
Despite fitting in on a certain line and being somewhat effective, for 3.5M, being on pace for a measly 30 points simply isn't good enough. If we were paying him significantly less, then I wouldn't mind, but he's paid like a top 6 forward, and he does not produce like one.

i'm not going to argue against moving him if we can at the deadline - that's part of the business.
you are, however, getting more than just 30-40 points with a guy like that.

He definitely produces like a top 6 forward. Look at his ppg for the past few seasons. He has been hampered by injuries.
We need to move him. There is probably a 0% chance he will be signed here in the summer so he must be traded for any pick. If his health wasn't a question mark a very late second round pick wouldn't be unreasonable considering the leadership ability and cup experience he brings. His offensive game is pretty good too. After Vokoun, Stillman may be one of the more sought after players we have at that trade deadline assuming his health isn't an issue.
Cory Stillman, if not for the injury, can still be a cup champion.
He has enough left to be an asset, but I said he should retire only because he doesn't need to feel like complete crap for the rest of his life.
Mucho respect to Stillman. If it's not too serious, we could still use the services of a guy like that.
