Maybe he regrets trading his son away too much and will try and land a gig with Carolina.

The New York Islanders have acquired from the Montreal Canadiens their compensatory second-round selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft as well as a conditional fifth-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for defenseman James Wisniewski.

The Canadiens acquired the compensatory pick after not signing their former first round pick, David Fisher.

The Canton, Michigan native joined the Islanders on July 30 through a trade from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for a conditional third round pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Isn't Wisniewski one of the few players who has consistently produced? or has he cooled down lately?

Raise your hand if you hate losing PPG fantasy players to injury for the rest of the year. Like Derek Roy for instance.

****.

lol

I've known this for a while, but I guess you haven't? Sorry to break the news. During the last game, IIRC, Roy got an injury (wrist I think?) that has him out for four to six months...meaning, the rest of the year.

Chris Botta is usually solid when it comes to the Islanders. Here is his remark:

Since he won’t be asked to be the man in Montreal, Wisniewski - unabe to shoulder the load when Mark Streit was sidelined with a serious shoulder injury - should be okay for the Habs.

Yeah, I've been on the road today (still am) so I havent checked. According to the Yahoo summary it's a torn quad.

I wonder who's expected to step up and take his place.

It could be a deal where finances and free agency were the primary focus. He makes $3,250,000 and is a UFA.

I think that the Habs, pre-slump (back when they were among the league leaders), were/are the definition of pretenders.

Also, considering how overrated I think Subban is and how cocky that whole board was after that one regular season win, I'm taking much joy in their suffering.

EDIT: Also, Sbisa got his first career NHL goal tonight.

About time. I'd love to see him start producing at the NHL level.

Must be because I put my Sbisa jersey on for the first time in probably a year today because I was cold sitting around the house.

You win life if you had the Islanders as the team that ends Sidney Crosby's point streak

Datsyuk, Roy, and Pronger are out longterm. My fantasy is now a gaping hole.

You obviously didn't draft proven commodities then, I mean all teams should be moulded around the rock that is Jody Shelley

No kidding. And here's hoping the Sidney Watch is done - I got tired of seeing every Sportscentre start with what he did and how many games we're at now.

I'm watching 24/7. Crosby's voice actually cracks while whining at a ref. It's amusing.

edit: and OV is borderline insane.

edit 2: Bylsma is legit.

I said the Gonchar signing had potential to be disastrous after it was announced and I even said that I thought it would turn out disastrous (well, as disastrous as a three year deal can get). I still stand by that.

I have very little doubt that that Gonchar signing will turn into a horrible decision by sometime next season at the latest, if not this season.

So will the Flames' GM blow the team up?

Crosby's streak finally ended and I love that it did. It was starting to get really annoying. And the irony that it came by the hands of the Islanders, the team that has given up the most career points to Crosby. It's also not like the Pens and Crosby deserve any better, after trying to sneak him onto the ice for a penalty shot.

Also, from twitter:

While not extreme, I also pretty much expected Gonchar to not have a great impact and do less than his contract is worth. As such I was strongly against it when people here suggested to sign Gonchar last offseason.

A Flyers' fan suggested picking up Gonchar as a UFA last offseason after some throwing up some ridiculous red flags and didn't get strung up/made an example of?

I would've taken care of it myself had I seen such an event.

I agree. Watched 24/7 or the 1st time yesterday. Ovechkin is insane and needs some English classes.

Bruce Boudreau is an idiot too. The fact that he is becoming center of attention is very annoying.

I also liked everything Bylsma said and did. Seems like a nice person and a good coach. Boudreau = trash. He wasn't even speaking to his team he was speaking into the camera.
