I need some advice. I started my rink last week and got the poly laid down and dumped water on it and it froze. Then came a snowfall on the weekend. I cleared the rink of the snow but while I did this, the ice flaked away as well in some spots. Over the next couple days, we are supposed to get a heavy snowfall of 10-15cm.

Should I keep watering down the rink even though a large snowfall is coming (and it's snowing now already) or just wait until after the snow falls and then clear the surface again and flood? The water is warm-ish that I am using so would it hurt to water the rink down with the snow? I am guessing the water would melt some of it.

nature may make ice for you so let the snow come and lets see what happens.

It's a little late to put one up for this winter, as I return to school in a week. I would like to give it some serious consideration next year, though.

My backyard has only one major obstacle, in a crab apple tree encircled by rocks, raised a little less than one foot off the ground. I'm not looking for a very big surface. I just want a patch that I can shoot on (12x8?).

How have some of you done your surfaces? Basically, I need a backyard rink for dummies.
