Sens at the World Juniors

So the virtual locks are Jared Cowen and Robin Lehner. Bob McKenzie is saying on twitter that Cowen has basically made the team, and Lehner was loaned to Sweden with the understanding that he will be starting.

After some confusion, 2010 4th round pick Marcus Sorensen is attending the Swedish selection camp, and played in their first intersquad game.

Is there anyone I'm forgetting?

Near the end of the Swedish Selection Camp thread in the WJC forum.

The team for the first game had a few changes from the roster that was posted on Swehockey earlier. The players in the first game that did not initially get invites were Sörensen, Fredrik Claesson and Oscar Klefbom.

That's great news about Sorensen. I hope he makes the team. It would be great to see him play against team Canada and USA.

I was pissed at first when Murray drafted another tiny unknown player, but ever since then the pick is looking better and better. He looks like he could be a first line player, who plays in the dirty areas and is feisty.

It would be really great to see if this kid is the player that everyone and the scouts make him out to be.

No he doesn't. Something to do with a transfer fee dispute between his Czech team and the QMJHL/and or the Czech WJ team.

Taken from the Czech selection board:

Honestly, I don't think there is a chance that he gets cut. His size and two-way ability will be huge for this team.

Can you confirm what his situation was from 72 hours ago? That post I quoted was from 9 days ago. Although I knew Culek was going to be potentially passed on because the Czechs are prepared to leave Czech CHLers off...I don't think it had to do with transfer agreement.

I know there was a transfer agreement issue with Petr Mrazek, goaltender of the Ottawa 67s. He would have had to pay 200,000 to go the WJC, so he is not going.

Holy jumping jelly beans, slow down!

First line player?! Are you kidding? This is an unknown, late round pick who none of us have seen him play a great deal (or at all). The kid COULD be good, but don't jump the gun. HFBoards set up so much dissapointment for fans with the ridiculous talk about how these prospects are going to be stars.

yeah, depending on how he develops over there and then how he adapts to the NA game, i could see sorensen as anything from a first liner to a ryan shannon to a career SELer. He's a big wildcard for our future.

False. He is expected to be, and there's a 99.9% chance he will, but the full roster hasn't been announced yet. Even if he's sitting out tonight, who knows what could happen

But yes, he's pretty much a done deal, just not officially.

Talk about being anal. Being a healthy scratch for tonight's game means you made the team.

Maybe it means he wasn't good enough to play in the final game?

I'm just stating that it's not a 100% confirmed done deal. Which it isn't. Sorry for being so blunt.

I'm just telling you it's anal. If he wasn't 100% on the team he would be playing tonight. There are not 5 spots open to the defensemen playing in tonights game.

You can't say he officially made the team when the team hasn't been finalized. It isn't being anal to point that out.
