Pronger out 4-6 weeks with an injured foot: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=345860

Quote:
Philadelphia Flyers defencemen Chris Pronger will undergo surgery on Friday to repair a broken bone in his right foot and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks. Pronger, 36, was injured in the second period of Wednesday night's game against the Montreal Canadiens.

Good news for us, considering we're facing Philthy on Saturday.

Sucks for the Prongs, good for NYR. I'd rather beat a healthy Philthy for bragging rights, but a win is a win.

Were without Cally. They can't make excuses.

Well, think of it from a Flyers fan perspective, or anyone who isn't a Rangers fan really. Callahan is probably underrated. Pronger is the more valuable player overall as well. I love Callahan, but if the Flyers agreed to sit Pronger every time we played them if we sat Callahan, I'd agree.

So if they are making that excuse and you say, "Well, Rangers are down Callahan." You can already expect what their response to that is going to be.

Rather beat them with Pronger in the line-up. Oh well, they're still a great team and a win in Philly tomorrow would still be impressive

I know we're on a roll and all, but c'mon, Philly is an elite team with a great D-core and talented forwards on every line.
There's almost no chance we would beat them with Pronger in...

But our chances are a little bit better now. I'll take that.

One player doesn't make or break it for a team that's as good as Philly. He's not God. He makes a big difference, but Philly is still unbelievable stacked.

Huge test Saturday.

Maybe Gaborik will actually carry the team on his back tomorrow.

I agree that we definitely have the edge as far as the injury match-up goes. It can be said that both Pronger and Callahan are most effective on the Flyer power play (with Pronger on the point and Cally blocking his shots) so that situation is a wash.

As valuable as he is, we have players that can do a lot of what Cally does like Drury, Prust, Dubi, and Feds. Can the same be said for Philly? Pronger out is huge for them. Cally's attitude and style is contagious. That's why we love him. Our guys will step up.

True. But admit that it will be substantially easier for our forwards to penetrate their zone without him. Huge for a guy like Gabby. The test is substantially easier now but not to be taken lightly. We'll see. I'd like to completely shut Zherdev down at least. He makes defenders look stupid sometimes. I'm not into letting that happen.
