  • The Flyers won PO series in 1987 (4-2), 2008 (4-1) and 2010 (4-1) and lost in 1973 (4-1), 1976 (4-0) and 1989 (4-2).

  • 2009 -- December 7 -- Mike Cammalleri and Andrei Kostitsyn scored second period goals in Montreal's 3-1 home win. Tomas Plekanec and Roman Hamrlik each had two assists. The teams combined for 28 shots (Philly 15-13) the lowest combined total in both teams' histories. Carey Price made 14 saves. Brian Boucher made 10 stops.
  • 2010 -- February 12 -- Jeff Carter scored twice and Michael Leighton made 23 saves in Philly's 3-2 home win. The Flyers led 3-0 3:17 into the second period. Montreal scored twice in the opening 3:01 of the third period but the Flyers then had three PPs in the next 4:38. Carey Price, who made 30 saves, suffered his first lost in the regular season to the Flyers (5-1). The game ended with some festivities -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abX6HUFiw8I . Game highlights -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5R5Lo...eature=related

  • 2010 -- February 13 -- Danny Briere recorded a hat trick and the Flyers swept the home-and-home series with a 6-2 win at Montreal. It was the first time in Flyers' history that they won four straight games with consecutive home-and-home series' sweeps (New Jersey and Montreal). Briere completed his hat trick with a penalty shot goal, the second such accomplishment in Flyers' history (Eric Lindros, at Washington, 1992). Michael Leighton made 26 saves and improved to 12-3-1 with the Flyers. The Flyers led 3-0 after one period. Jaroslav Halak was replaced after the second period by Carey Price. Four seconds into the game, Ian Laperriere and Ryan O'Byrne fought ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1_JdYDatMY ). “He asked me to go right from the get-go. He asked me to go right at the face-off. I knew it might be a really good start for our team if the fight would go my way, and it did,” said Laperriere.

  • 2010 -- April 2-- Jaroslav Halak made 35 saves and Tomas Plekanec scored in the first period of Montreal's 1-0 win in Philly. The Flyers dominated the third period 14-3 in shots. Brian Boucher made 22 saves.
  • 2010 -- May 16 -- In Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals at Philly, the Flyers crushed the Canadiens 6-0 in a matchup of the Eastern Conference's seventh seed vs. eighth seed. The victory came two days after the Flyers' monumental comeback over Boston in the prior round. Michael Leighton registered his first NHL PO shutout as he made 28 saves and five Flyers scored a goal and added an assist. Braydon Coburn's PPG made it 1-0 3:55 into the game, his first goal in 60 games since December 21. Montreal outshot Philly 13-6 in the opening period but trailed 1-0. In the second period, the Flyers chased goalie Jaroslav Halak (10 saves, 14 shots), who entered the game with an NHL PO leading .933 save percentage, at the 9:53 mark in favor of Carey Price (9 saves, 11 shots). Coburn, James van Riemsdyk, Scott Hartnell, Claude Giroux and Danny Briere each had a goal and an assist. The Flyers went 2-for-6 on PPs. Flyers' fans chanted "Ole, Ole" during the impending victory. Highlights -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3aFw9V5aj8k

  • 2010 -- May 18 -- In Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals at Philly, Michael Leighton earned top star honors for the second straight game with a 30-save 3-0 shutout win. Leighton joined Bernie Parent, 1975, as the only Flyers' goalies to record consecutive PO shutouts and ran his streak without allowing a goal to 165:50. The Flyers scored in each period including PPGs by Danny Briere and Simon Gagne and a third period goal by Ville Leino (1-1-2). Montreal held a 30-23 shots advantage including 16-6 in the first period. For the second straight game, Scott Gomez nullified an early Canadiens' PP by committing a minor penalty. The Flyers became the first team in NHL history to record six straight wins after a 3-game losing streak in the playoffs. It was the first time the Flyers won six straight PO games since 1995. The Flyers also scored 13 straight goals since trailing 3-0 in Game 7 of the Boston series. Highlights -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6MzVAG9s2g

  • 2010 -- May 20 -- In Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals at Montreal, Jaroslav Halak made 25 saves in the Canadiens' 5-1 win. Michael Cammalleri's NHL PO-leading 13th goal 7:05 into the game snapped Michael Leighton's shutout streak at 172:55 for Montreal's first goal of the series. Roman Hamrlik was chosen the game's top star with two assists and a +4. Dominic Moore and Tom Pyatt each had a goal and an assist. P.K. Subban had three assists and was a +3. Montreal held a 38-26 shots advantage including 11-2 on PPs. Chris Pronger and Matt Carle were both -3. Sandgate: Analyst Pierre McGuire said during the game that "sand or some other foreign substance" covered the hallway floor near the Flyers' dressing room. Many Flyers' players complained about their skates and were seen headed to the locker room leading to Montreal's Jaroslav Spacek to say later "I thought they had diarrhea, going back and forth from the locker room. The guys were talking on the plane. What happened? If (they) have trouble, maybe they can wear those skate protectors like figure skaters." Highlights -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nk-vVBc81Ww
  • 2010 -- May 22 -- In Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals at Montreal, the Flyers smothered Montreal with a near-perfect display of team defense in a 3-0 victory. Michael Leighton made 17 saves for his third shutout in the series and became the fourth goalie (J.S. Giguere in 2003, Turk Broda in 1950 and Dave Kerr in 1940) in NHL history to record three shutouts in a Semifinal/Conference Final round. Afterwards, Leighton said "I'm not concerned about shutouts, I'm concerned about winning." Chris Pronger and Matt Carle were named the game's top two stars after both were a -3 in Game 3. The Flyers emotional victory came after captain Mike Richards' emotional outburst following Game 3 and the inspirational return of Jeff Carter (missed 11 games due to a broken foot) and Ian Laperriere (missed 10 games due to a concussion/brian injury). Claude Giroux scored twice, a brilliant play 5:41 into the second period and an ENG. Ville Leino made it 2-0 14:53 into the middle period. Philly outshot the Habs 13-1 in the second period and held a 2-0 lead. The lone Canadiens' shot in the second period came at the 13:34 mark. Philly held a 25-17 shots advantage. Montreal played its 100th game of the season. Highlights -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akSde...eature=channel

  • 2010 -- May 24 -- In Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals at Philly, the Flyers advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals with a thrilling 4-2 victory. Captain Mike Richards (1-2-3) was terrific in 22+ minutes, Jeff Carter scored twice and Michael Leighton made 25 saves. Richards' sensational SHG over a sprawled and out-of-position Jaroslav Halak at the 4:25 mark delivered what was ultimately the fatal blow to the Canadiens' resolve, dimming the team's buzz after Brian Gionta's goal in the opening minute. Arron Asham and Carter scored early second period goals 1:24 apart to give Philly a 3-1 lead. Scott Gomez narrowed the score to 3-2 in the third period but the Wachovia Center erupted when Carter sealed the victory with an ENG giving the Flyers the 2010 Eastern Conference Championship. Braydon Coburn played a game-high 30:11. Series Notes: Peter Laviolette became just the ninth coach to take over a team during the season and reach the Stanley Cup Finals later that year. Claude Giroux (3-3-6), Ville Leino (2-3-5), Mike Richards (1-3-4) and Simon Gagne (3-0-3) led the offense. Michael Leighton had three shutouts and had a save percentage of .950 (133-for-140), supported by outstanding team defense led by Chris Pronger. The Flyers were 4-for-22 on PPs while Montreal was 1-for-22. Highlights -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JasvnUo9h3k

  • 2010 -- November 16 -- Carey Price made 41 saves in Montreal's 3-0 win at home. The shot total represented the most in a shutout against the Flyers since Clint Malarchuk had 42 in 1989. Michael Cammalleri gave the Canadiens a 1-0 lead with a first period 5-on-3 PPG. Tomas Plekanec made it 2-0 in the second period 38 seconds after the Flyers failed on a PP which included a brief 5-on-3. The Flyers' PP was 0-for-6 while Montreal was 2-for-8. PIMs: Philly 45, Montreal 31. The Flyers entered the game with a 9-0-1 record in the prior 10 games.
  • 2010 -- November 22 -- James van Riemsdyk's first goal of the season snapped a 2-2 tie 7:42 into the third period and Brian Boucher made 29 saves leading Philly to a 3-2 home win. The Flyers were 31-for-42 (73.8 percent) on faceoffs in the second and third periods and outshot the Canadiens 36-16 over those 40 minutes. Philly held a 45-31 shots advantage in the game. Claude Giroux tied the game 2-2 1:48 into the third period. Ville Leino scored the Flyers' first goal with 5:07 left in the second period. Maxim Lapierre scored twice in the opening period, with Benoit Pouliot and Jeff Halpern assisting on both, to give Montreal a 2-0 lead. Carey Price made 42 saves including 20 on 21 shots in the middle period. Highlights -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zov2DNGBRdg

  • 2010 -- December 15 -- Sergei Bobrovsky made 38 saves, James van Riemsdyk scored twice and Jeff Carter (1-2-3) had three points in the Flyers' impressive 5-3 win at Montreal. The victory came on the back end of a home win against Pittsburgh which elevated the Flyers to the top spot in the NHL. JVR's (2-0-2) PPG was the game-winner with 5:33 to play and Claude Giroux followed 61 seconds later. The Flyers' 3-1 lead was equalled midway in the third period on goals by Tomas Plekanec, who was in the box during the GWG, and Brian Gionta. Montreal held a 41-30 shots advantage. I have a feeling Mezsaros has another big game, particularly in terms of physicality. Don't know why.

Boosh has been excellent but I'm guessing that Bob will get the nod.

Because he is twice as large as 90% of the Habs roster?

He has been physical all season. LOVE that pickup Paul did for just a 2nd round pick. This defensive core will be hard to beat come playoff time. The Flyers team are built for the playoffs and its exciting!!

The habs have some nasty stick work so lets see how this one pans out. These two teams seem to hate each other a decent amount and that makes for some good hockey to watch for us!

Well, that and a bit of cap hell as he's nowhere close to being worth 4M.

Keep it going Flyers. It'd be nice to see back to back solid wins over top teams, but I'm kind of sensing a let down. We aren't very good back to back, two different cities, Habs are well rested, we don't play well in Montreal in the regular season.

But here's to hoping for another Flyer victory.
