Jarnkrok with player of the game for Sweden. Well deserved.

awesome. you have to imagine it. the puck left the stick with a smile, passed the goalie waving and crossed the goal line with a jubilant outcry!

I saw some of the game early on, he looked pretty deadly.

It was the result of a great forechecking effort by another Swedish player who gained control of the puck and found Jarnkrok in the slot. Jarnkrok had a Czech player on him, but was able to get a quick, little backhand off to beat the goalie.

jarnkrok was great vs czechs. good skater, backchecked well, won faceoffs, PKed, was confident and calm with the puck at all times, smooth on point of PP. made multiple nice plays in the offensive zone. probably overhandled the puck in traffic a couple of times.
reminded me of datsyuk.

czechs' D was porous and their PK was bad again. officiating was strict.

mazanec allowed a terrible goal b/c he was not really keeping focus, but he also kept czechs in the game in the 1st period.

nestrasil was solid. not bad, not great.

frk was impressive. his 2nd goal should have been saved, but his 1st goal was great. i had never seen him play, but he seems to have a great shot, both slapshot and wrist shot. likes to hit and shoot. kept calling for the puck on point or side of PP, but passed when he did not have a clear shot. made a nice pass on PP through the box to nestrasil, who had a good chance but missed.

frk and jarnkrok got small awards for player of the game from each team.

Seriously, i don't know how Detroit does it, but they got a keeper in Järnkrok. Besides his obvious badass name(translated "Ironhook") he is a hardworking two-way player with some dangling skills. He will play in Detroit in three years time, IMO.

Either that or his name foreshadows an NHL career filled with stick infractions.

If that was the case I'd be more worried if his name was something like "Robert Lang."

We should try to trade for Erixon before everyone realises how awesome he is.

Finland-Slovakia first 20minutes 3-0 for Finland.

Pulkkinen has 0+1 so far (+ one huge slapshot to the crossbar, too bad that didn't turn in).

+ One assist to a goal which wasn't for some reason counted.

Apparently here is a free stream for the game:

I'm watching it from same stream...

It's funny to see that Pulkkinen is playing the power-play exactly at spot, that is our main weakness since Sammy left. 2nd PP left side pointman with right handed shot. I'd like to see him there immediately!

Yep, that would be quite nice to see

Pulkkinen just got his 2nd point, an assist, on the powerplay. Vatanen scored. And he's 3rd in the tournament scoring now

Today:

Pulkkinen 0+2, E, 3 shots
Järnkrok 0+0, -2, 2 shots
Nestrasil 0+1, -1, 4 shots

Callahan with 1 goal, 4 shots and a +1 after 2 periods with team USA. First point of the tournament, if I'm correct. It was a wrap-around.

i watched the sweden vs canada game on a eurosport stream, which was a bit fuzzy. commentator also regularly confused players, so it was sometimes hard to say who did which things.

sweden outplayed canada for most of the game. canada struggled with sweden's speed and skill. canada's D and goaltending were sub par, and i think canada played too safe. they should have forechecked more. sweden's goalie lehner was also sub par.

most of the swedish F's played well, and jarnkrok did not particularly stand out to me. i think he overhandled the puck at times. like the rest of the team, he showed good speed, skill and commitment to D.

adam larsson was not good. played a SH 2 on 1 terribly, probably twice. 1st when the puck was loose in the neutral zone, and then did nothing while canada scored. i did not notice him much at all late in the game.

Jarnkrok was quoted saying that he will stay in Sweden at least one more season.

I'm expecting both he and Pulkkinen to stay one more year and Almqvist and maybe HTD to come to NA if they want to.

Jarnkrok and TP are having good tourneys but have any of you guys got the chance to watch Callahan. I know he got a goal but thats about it.

Has he had any huge hits? Is he a good agitator? Good in the corners etc..

Yeah. They asked the Swedish players in JWC and like 95% of them said that SEL was better for their development than than the AHL.

almqvist will play at least another season in sweden. there's no reason to rush him over as long as he gets valuable ice-time on a contending team which he does. he's still way too skinny to play in north america. he would get destroyed along the boards. his progress is decent, i wouldn't change anything for now.

i did not see the finland russia game, but pulkkinen had a goal and an assist. but his penalty late in the game (i think it was after he turned over the puck) gave russia a PP goal.

Highlights of Russia-Finland.

Ortio looks like a decent goaltender. He robbed Kitsyn blind.

I hate Pierre McGuire and how he tries to pronounce the Finnish names but the Russian names can **** off.
