Good move. Volpatti brings an element that this team needs that just isn't there with Andersson.

Well, he can't be any worse a skater then Desbiens so there is that I guess. I also thought Andersson was a strong point on that 4th line, but we all know AV prefers more grit down there then skill.

Good for Volpatti, I'm a fan of his. I think he's the best of the collection of beast grinders this organization has.

Volpatti skates well, he hits and iirc he can notch a few points.

He hit an Abbotsford Heat at center ice and there was blood everywhere and he had to be wheeled off and it was a completely clean it, just because he's huge

I like Volpatti, a lot. I think he has a Tanner Glass upside.

But I don't know if this is a move I would have made right now. I thought Andersson was playing very well on that fourth unit and didn't look out of place one bit. In fact, that line wasn't looking like a liability at all the last few games.

Damnit, sometimes AV and his coaching preferences really tick me off.

I am a little surprised by this move but I think the Canucks are just experimenting which combination in the 4th line plays the best. If this is indeed what they are doing, they may bring up Oreo later too.

Bit of a surprising move when you consider that for the first time in a while the fourth line didn't look incompetent.

This one doesn't make sense to me. I thought Andersson was playing well, maybe this is just how they reward players in the minors who are playing well...give them a short trial to see what they can do, then move to the next player. Oh well...I hope we get to see a taste of Volpatti's physicality.

I don't mind the revolving door. You may as well get a look at as many guys as possible.

Also, the Moose could really use Andersson right now with Hodgson out.

yeah they seem to be running a bit of a mini-tryout for that last 4th line spot now that it's become apparent that Desbiens isn't going to cut it. I would not be surprised at all if Oreskovich gets a few games there in the new year, unless Volpatti really lights the world on fire. Maybe Bill Sweatt as well? From what I've read the lack of hands is his biggest deficiency, but in a fourth-line role his speed and forechecking ability could be pretty useful.

It's hard to say Andresson really deserved to be sent down given how much better the fourth line looked with him on it. Was he approaching some kind of change in waiver eligibility or something?

I like the idea of keeping guys hungry and giving lots of different players looks, but I'd have thought they would give Andersson a few more games. I guess it's just a short tryout.

When they bring these guys in I'm sure the message is that if they play well they get legit shots on the big club. Management keeps their word and if we catch lightning in a bottle fans are happy.

Seems like everybody's getting a 3-4 game rotation.

Bliznak, Perrault, Andersson, and now Volpatti. I would assume Oreskovich gets the call up in about 2 weeks, perhaps Desbiens once more (does he have to clear re-entry?) then a more permanent 4th line will be made.

I remember looking at Volpatti in the pre season and seeing a guy who could be another Tanner Glass type with more hitting. If he is that, he'll be a very good 4th liner. Glass has been slotted in on the other lines once in a while during each game lately.

Are we just going to try everyone in the org. on the 4th line? Didn't mind what Andersson was bringing, but suspected AV might be after a more physical winger, which Volpatti is. We'll see if he's NHL material, well at least get a peek as I'm sure he'll play 4 minutes a night...
