Just watched that. Sadly, nothing at all insightful about the interview.

I just don't understand how he can sit there and defend Wang. If Wang was behind Long Island and wants to put a "winning product" on the ice, we would have some vets on the ice to help these kids.

Another thing to add to this ******* circus.

Wang is an owner, so the NHL is on his side. The league as a whole has to take care of 30 owners (29) to promote stability.

The fans.....they'll worry when we stop going.

I don't get the NHL's defense of Wang. Who cares if Wang is "trying his best" to make the Islanders successful. This is the National ****ing Hockey League. He doesn't get a participation award. Does Bettman sincerely not give a **** that the Islanders are a complete mess simply because Wang gets an A for effort? Does he really think fans should be patient and should blame the backup goalie being forced into a GM role on the arena?

The NHL is NOT going to bad mouth Wang. At least not in that forum.

Yeah, I hear you. I know he's not going to call him out on IPB. As a fan I just feel like I'm being disrespected in a way and that is what leads to my frustration.

Reading the comments on Botta's site, some blame fans for not going, so Wang shouldn't have to spend if fans aren't paying good money to watch this debacle.

The NHL response to this mess is pathetic. We have been abused as a fan base for far too long 15+ years. So Mr. Wang comes along and treats us half way decent and then starts up the same abusive crap we went through in the past.

The way I took Mr. Daly's (NHL's) response is "hey you used to be alot worse off and at least Mr. Wang has kept your team on long island so be happy and don't bad mouth our Billionaire Buddy cause he is begining to take it personally." Boo Hoo Charles feelings have been hurt and he needs his buddies at the NHL to swear by the lies he spues out.

I am greatful to Charles Wang for what he has done, always will be, but you know what I have given him and his pursuit of the LightHouse Project a pass for way to long. There is no reason he should be running the franchise in the fasion he is/has unless he truely has alternate plans and his motives are nothing but financialy driven.

As far as Charles Wangs motives are concerned I ask you this, no matter how bad things would get with the Yankees did George ever stop spending money in order to make them better? Did George ever stop talking about his prized possession?

George was a Fan that happened to be a businessman.
Charles is a Businessman that claims to be a Fan.

IMO the writing is on the wall. We as fans have 5 more years before our team is gone. You can take that to the bank. Don't spend a dime on this team because either way we are going to be bamboozled.

What's the actual season ticket number total for this season?

Anyone know how much of the "announced" attendance is actually walk-ups?

Detroit has 2k in the building with Yzerman and company playing. THAT got Ilitch to change his operation.

Of course we have Wang.....a soulless corporate raider who bought, pilfered and tore apart software companies, not a pizza guy who made it big by building a business.

But it's already starting to make big waves in the national audience. I hope it keeps getting worse so the NHL will HAVE TO take action. (though listening to Daly, it'll be action to save Wang's hide)

But they really shouldn't be. The Islanders are not being run like a major league franchise, so how can the league possibly be supportive of them? The Isles are an embarrassment to the league. I'd be absolutely furious with them if I was the commissioner.

No joke. The fans are the league's bread and butter and they're siding with Wang like they sided with Jacobs and Wurtz.

I've stopped going completely as well.

Is last nights number PAID attendance or actual people in the seats? 95% of the time, announced attendance is paid attendance. Meaning there were probably about 3,000 people actually in the building last night.

And this is getting headlines everywhere. While I stayed home last night to watch REAL hockey (Bruins at Canadiens)... the intermission on the CBC broadcast while showing the Isles highlights started off with a shot of how empty the building was at the opening faceoff and Ron MacLean went on to say something like "as you can see the Islanders and their fans are in a dire situation". So, it is being noticed.

I think the season ticket number going into this season was around 5-6k. But that's a guess. My guess for next year will be something like 2-3k... of that.

Yeah there's no way in hell there were almost 7700 people there last night. I'd put it around 5K or less.

I suppose publicly they have to be supportive. That I get.

But I really hope behind the scenes Bettmans office is at least trying to put pressure on these guys to get their act together. Unless of course they're in on it.

I know they speak of wanting to keep all the markets intact, but it wouldn't surprise me if the league looks at the NYI moving away (presumably to Canada) as a ways to bolster 2 franchises. 1) the Canadian team will instantly be a success and 2) I don't know about you guys, but if the club moves out of the area I'm a Devils fan. I know many will just stop watching the sport, and that's a shame. I don't think I'm alone either. For all their success, they really dont have the fan support to show for it.

What are ANY of us gonna do?

Personally, I think all this "lets protest" and signing petitions is a COMPLETE waste of time... and energy. However, I won't bash people who do it.

Why do I think it's a waste of time? Because ultimately, wang is the owner. A few disgruntled fans won't make a difference. Even if the whole building started chanting for his head tomorrow night (all 4,000 that are there), it won't do a thing. Does anyone REALLY think something will finally snap in his head where he goes, "wow, I really am messing things up. Let's fix this". Yea, a guy as old as wang who has done things HIS way his entire life is suddenly going to have a change of heart because a few hundred people are chanting "wang must go".

Once again, I won't put down the people who are going to participate. Please, make your voices heard if it helps you feel better. Bottom line, I won't make a difference, Fanatic won't make a difference, and YOU won't make a difference if Wang simply doesn't feel like selling at the moment. He holds all the cards. The ONLY way the fans could MAYBE move along the process a bit quicker is to not show up at all. If attendance gets as low as 1-2k, MAYBE that will force his hand. But even then, this is a stubborn man we are dealing with. Wang sells when wang decides to sell. Not when the fans pressure him to sell.

Wang's operating more profitably. The NHL has to be happy now. Next year Wanger's in the black.
