Per Bob Mckenzie. No word on whether he'll go to Bridgeport if he clears, whether he'd be the extra attacker there, or if they plan on making him head coach.

All are better options than having him play and I do mean ALL
My guess: they want to give Rhakshani a longer look. They may also wish to give Ulstrom a shot. Ultimately they need the roster space for that.
First of many more moves. It is pretty clear they season is over. Nothing more to do but get the best possible value on trades and give opportunities to youngsters.
I know everyone hates Sim, but he hasn't been awful and actually played well yesterday. I don't get all the up-and-down with him specifically. If anything, he's consistent and brings something nobody else does.
I'm not saying he should stay on the roster, I'd have him gone a long time ago because there are far better players available that can do what he does, better, with fewer dumb penalties and more size, speed, physical play.
But if you have him on the roster in October and all you have is crap and injuries up front, why waive him now?
Hunter, Weight, Okposo all out. Okposo's not due back until early-mid January.
The Martin and Joensuu are still with the team.
Is it Rolston who's coming here in a trade? or re-entry? I doubt it's Ullstrom or Rakhshani because they would just have sent down Joensuu or Martin who don't have to clear waivers.

I think they want to keep Joensuu and Martin in the NHL and ADD Rhakshani – they dont necessarily want to delete Joensuu and Martin.
It could be in preparation for a deal — but I think that is far less likely.
The rumors of Bailey to anywhere are not going happen. Just because they sent JB down, doesn't mean he is now trade fodder. One thing about Snow — he has been somewhat consistent/truthful with rebuilding from within. Canned or not in his interview — he made it clear he was not going to move any of their young core assets or draft picks here, in juniors or europe. That means Bailey stays. It could be as simple as the call up being is Josh Bailey himself.
P.S.
I really don't like the idea of Rolston coming to L.I. We need vets for sure, but not a declining vet. We have one is Doug Weight — whom I really like, but time has caught up to him.
I have no problem with him if he goes to BP. But for the love of god it's about time he's off the team.
Wait are they serious about making him head coach of BP or was that a joke?
Honestly, Weight should be the head coach of the ST if the goal is for him to one day coach the NYI. But of course he'll be the coach next season & we'll be as big a joke as we are now.
And why is the sweetner playing center over Bailey????
To put him on a line with JT once he's back. JT shoots way more than josh, who is a natural playmaker. Plus if isles stay where they are, picking one of couturier or nug-kins, would then slide josh to 3rd line center. I'm sure most of us have higher hopes than 3rd line for josh. Just a guess tho.
Sim shouldve been waived & left in bridgeport last year ala brendan witt. No reason for him here. He's terrible, takes bad penalties & isn't even good defensively. I'd have rather had stonehands hilbert up all this time if he wasn't hurt
We have three injured forwards, Okposo, Weight and Hunter. Hunter is going to be out a while, it didn't seem from the article last week that Weight was close so does that mean Okposo is almost ready? he was supposedly skating with the team a week ago. Maybe they are going to make a trade, Sunday is the holiday trade freeze

Can you imagine sim as coach.
"Who should go out for the pp coach?"
*stupid blank stare from sim*
Hed get bench minors all game long bc he has no idea what a penalty is & hed just argue everything.
I wouldn't mind Sim if he was on the fourth line and that's the only role he played, how the Isles are using him is beyond his realm of ability. He would've been fine with Konopka and Martin(even though I hate him being there) on the fourth line would've been fine.
I hope this means he is finally off the Island.
I don't hate Sim, I just think he doesn't bring anything to this team and his spot could be used for any NHL ready prospect that would benefit from development like Rhett the Rakh or possibly Ullstrom.

How awful has he been compared to some of the other awful players? Not that much...he's been ok.
The problem that I have is how Cap (and even Gordon at one point) used him. He does not belong on the power play whatsoever and does not belong out there in the final minute of a game where they're down by a goal. He's a 4th liner and while he occasionally gets in the faces of opposing players, he's not going to be the kind of guy you're going to count on for a power play goal/assist or making a smart play in the final minute.
That's not necessarily Sim's fault, it's the coaching staffs fault. But still, it's giving Sim a bad rap.
Sadly though, I would take Sim over Papinerenteau anyday. But as long as PAP continues to get a lucky goal here and there (all the while providing zero creativity with the puck and zero hockey sense), he'll remain here.

I came here to post this exactly. You have to give Sim the credit for putting his all into every shift. At least the guy shows he cares, more than some others on the roster can say.
Sim's role is on the fourth line. It isn't his fault that Capuano thinks he's Jari Kurri or some **** like that. It's funny, now that he'd be in position to play on the fourth line, we're sending him down.
I have always liked Sim....for what Sim is....a pain in the ass that has given his all to this team without b.i.t.c.h...ing. He can pull a shift on any line in any situation to shake things up a bit BUT....on this team, as is, he would be best used, at most, as a third line player and in reality more suited as a solid fourth liner.
Player usage on the front lines on this team is horrible, and has been for a good bit of time (see last several coaches)....and that is putting it nicely.
