makes sense, florida gets a top 6 or potential top 6 guy in brule, which they need and some scrub, while edmonton gets a key faceoff and pk guy, and a defensive dman so their pk can be a lot better.

LOL better players? Reasoner is a couple of years from retiring and Allen isn't your star studded player. Brule and Cogs are both under the age of 24 and can still turn around and contribute.

How long are Horcoff and Hemsky out?
Young players who have proven they can contribute if given the opportunity for a couple old band-aids at best for the Oilers.

Don't know about Florida, but I don't think the Oilers take this, at least not right now. Maybe in February if they're in a playoff spot(unlikely I think, no matter how good the rookies are playing).

As i stated before. Both are upgrades over what you have today. Say they suck all you want. But they suck a lot less then most of your forwards

I think that this is a fair deal for both teams. Flor gets two young players that have the potential to contribute and can help in the long run.

FL passes as I think they can get a better return for Allen. A lot of teams are going to be interested in him being that he's a physical top 4 d-man who's not a rental signed at a reasonable rate.

Cogs & Brule is basically redundant to some of the forwards FL already has so this doesnt really benefit them enough to make the deal. If prospects or picks were involved, then that might peak their interest a bit more but I'm sure that doesnt make sense from the Oilers perspective either.

Both Cogliano and Brule are small guys that aren't good enough to play on scoring lines and not really the type of players you want on your lower lines. So I could see why Edmonton would want to get rid of them.

But why would Florida want to have them? Either of them is a downgrade to Reasoner on a lower line and Allen is a pretty solid middle pairing defenseman.

I don't see any logic to this trade beyond Edmonton wanting to dump forwards not performing.

I stand by my comments. I'd take Brule over any forward on your team not named Frolik or Booth.

Edmonton is quite a bit deeper on forward then Florida. Give Brule some top 6 minutes and he's a very useful player. Cogliano is still young, is one of the fastest skaters in the league and is a very good PK guy. Just because Edmonton doesn't have room for these players doesn't mean Florida doesn't.

Both of them are black holes offensively. Skate over the blue line and take a horrible shot. Horrible hockey IQ. They will never turn into good scorers. All Cogliano has is speed. Without it he wouldn't be in the NHL today.

There is no reason for Florida to take on Edmontons trash.

if they're such huge upgrades, how come 95% of the proposals on here made by oilers fans always features atleast one of them?
I've seen so much hate towards them from u guys, I just dont understand why you now want to put them out to be all stars?

Im not saying allen or reasoner are top notch either, but atleast they know their role on the team and they perform on a high level on a consistant basis. they're both two large contributors to our gaa being as low as it is considering we're the 28th ranked team in the league.

so tell me, since acc. to you brule and cogs are better than all of our forwards save for booth and frolik, how come we have 9 forwards which has scored more points than both of them while also having better +/- stats than both? how are they better?
