I'd like to hear what he thinks the sharks would get in return.

Thought this would have brought up sooner ... my guess he's having another kid or some crap, and the wife is on his berries.

Why would Marleau want to go to Toronto to be with a coach that he by all accounts clashed with?

Didn't realize that guy was still alive. Bummer.

EDIT: Also, "serviceable defenseman"? Wouldn't that require Toronto to, you know, have one of those to begin with? (And please spare me the Luke Schenn praise. I've seen him play enough to know that even Vlasic is better than him at this point.)

Probably something ridiculous like Beauchemin + Orr + filler.

Its funny cause it seems the basis for his whole idea seems that Marleau liked RW.

As dumb as it is sending him to Toronto, Marleau really does deserve criticism and a ton of it. He's the very model of inconsistency, putting in a great season followed by an absolutely atrocious one (worst +/- on the team, sub 50 pts). He's been like this for his entire career. When JT or Heater are cold, they are STILL PPG and can maintain a not pathetic +/-.

Personally, I wouldn't trade Marleau for Schenn+Kadri or Schenn+Kaberle.

Meh overrated, and his development would be destroyed by Yawney.

Sure, he deserves criticism for his play thus far this year but don't give this crap that his entire career is him putting up a bad season after a great season. He's had one bad season after a great season so far in his career. As for his +/-, I don't put a whole lot of stock in it. When you play as much as he did and generally is the guy out there in the defensive situations double-shifting with other guys. I mean, some of his minuses are empty netters against and some are SH goals against and some are bad plays by people on the ice that are not him. He's definitely had his share of defensive breakdowns but it's not an accurate gauge of his defensive play either. If he was as bad as the stats make it look, he wouldn't be in those situations.

As for the Garner story, it's just more poorly thought out articles that do nothing but complain about the current scapegoat for the season. Suggesting the team should trade Marleau is just an exercise in whining and isn't anything constructive. Not to mention it's ludicrous to run a player out of town for a bad month or so and suggest that his best years are behind coming off of a career goal scoring season.

SH goals don't impact a player's +/- , just as PP goals don't.

SHGF and SHGA do count on +/-. PPGF and PPGA do not count.
