Please be Tampa, Roloson's numbers are spectacular if you consider the team he's on

The Sound Tigers are in a dog fight for the playoffs.Poulin's playing better then Lawson. It makes sense that the isles and ST's don't want Poulin to miss any Bridgeport starts.

The Isles probably need Lawson for just 1 start, since a team acquiring Rolison will probably ship their goalie to LI.

My guess is if Roloson goes to Tampa, Mike Smith will head to Long Island considering he's on an expiring contract as well. Geez...Mike Smith and Rick DiPietro almost guarantee the best shot in the Draft Lotto.

I don't see a goalie coming the Isles way. The three goalie rotation in Bridgeport is one too many as it is.

And he won't be playing either. The Islanders called up a guy who's struggling in the AHL and he's starting over Roloson and DiPietro (knee swelling BUT practicing).

Color me skeptical (and there's a whole lot of other things that don't add up right now).

A trade is likely coming in the next 24-48 hours (involving Roloson).

any team needing a goalie such as tampa, should be targeting roloson.
With Dipietro's knee swelling and injury history you'd have to think a goalie coming back would be a must.

no. he is worth more then that, that would be a horrible return for what he brings. and unfortunately, if it happens, that team wins the trade easily and isles get screwed over because the goalie market is never promising.

Thought this thread said Rolston, but now realized it was a 40 year old Isle goalie

The Christmas trade freeze for this year begins at midnight.

Never promising? Have you seen the goalies on waivers this year?

Nabakov won over 40 games last year and is looking for a team. Niemi won the cup and was let walk. Jose Theodore won a ton last year and signed for cheap in Minny after the season started.

Never before have there been so many NHL caliber goalies available.

Not to turn this into a proposal thread but I would easily give up a 2nd plus a marginal prospect for Roloson.

Past tense. Nabokov signed with SKA, Niemi ended up with SJ and Theodore, as you said, signed with MIN.

Coming from a similar experience with the Thrashers(until very recently), at some point you need to stop applying logic to the actions of a terribly run organization. Bringing up a poor goalie to start ahead of a guy that has been playing well....why not.

Sim was on the ice today too, so he is your mystery forward.

As far as Lawson starting, the thinking has to be that if they are bringing him up, why not start him? There is more going on here...

Islanders fans know that there have been three goalies sharing a rotation down on the farm team. Something has to give there- Kevin Poulin has been lights out in front of a rather poor team (he has half their wins, a couple of shut-outs, and a .940 save percentage) and Lawson has been improving after a pedestrian start. Koskinen has struggled, and it's clear that moving one of the three off the farm team is a must.

With the season over, Snow may be tempted to pull the trigger on Rollie sooner than later- if not only to clear up the logjam in Bridgeport.

"March 11, 2003: NY Islanders traded G Chris Osgood and the Islanders' 3rd-round pick in the 2003 Entry Draft to St. Louis for C Justin Papineau and St. Louis' 2nd-round pick in the 2003 Entry Draft."

I can see something similar.

Roloson + 3rd
for
AHLer (is NHL ready) + 2nd

eg:

TB:
Roloson + 3rd
for
Wright/Jones + 2nd

Thats to Islanders best interest in trying to set up a re-build. Upgraded 3rd + young AHLer who will be giving opportunity to play and develop in the NHL.

1.Despite the fact that RD took part in today's practice,Strang reported he's out tonight with swelling on the knee.

2.There is plenty of speculation that the isles are looking to move Rolison. If they think they are close to a deal, why would they risk having him get injured, in what is a meaningless game in the standings to them?

3.The Sound Tigers are playing for their playoff lives.Every pt counts. The isles and ST would want Poulin, who's playing very well,to get tonight's Bridgeport start ahead of Lawson.

Which is the result of Bridgeport's idiotic 3 goalie rotation. Lawson is a player much like Roloson, he needs consistent starts.

Following one of his best performances for the New York Islanders of the season on Thursday, it would seem Rick DiPietro is hurt again. The only question is, how badly?

According to Katie Strang of Newsday, DiPietro is experiencing some swelling in his knee. The franchise goaltender implies it's not a big deal and "the setback is (a) minor one".

However, AHL call-up Nathan Lawson will start for the Isles in their contest with the Phoenix Coyotes on Saturday. It will be the first NHL appearance by the 27-year-old netminder.
There.

A trade is still very likely...It simply doesn't make any sense. DP practiced and is feeling fine (according to him). He could simply sit on the bench and back up Roloson. And if they don't wanna take that "risk", they simply sit Lawson on the bench. Now, it makes no sense to start a struggling AHL goaltender over Roloson. And waiving Sim made no sense anyway (11 forwards...not going to Bridgeport, yet).

According to the beat writer (Katie Strang), it isn't related to the trade freeze.

We'll see...I'm still skeptical!
