Bergfors to Pittsburgh (or any other team)

It is well-known that Bergfors is a very talented player; however, it is obvious that Ramsay's style of coaching does not play to his particular talents, thus he is in the dog-house. He is signed relatively cheap (900k for one year) and still has RFA status. So, what would your teams offer for him.

I'm looking for either some useful asset, such as a solid player with exceptional SO skills, or something that can be used to obtain useful assets, see first round pick.

No need for Komisark, because our defensive pairings are cemented in place. Mitchell does not have the intangibles/"toughness" to play for Ramsay, and a second is a second.

What sort of prospects would the Thrashers be interested in? I'd offer a 2nd plus decent prospect.

Right now, our prospect base is fairly solid. Defensively, we are solid with Kulda, Zubarev, and Postma (and even Valabik), with it being unlikely that room shall open up soon. Offensively, we have a decent amount of 2nd-3rd line tweeners, but no potential first liners (it appears); however, I believe it is doubtful that you would offer us one.

Would Tangradi potentially be offered with a draft pick, or is he unlikely to be traded? He seemed to be the commodity of the jour for a while...

Tangradi is unlikely to be traded, he's started to heat up again after a slow start on returning to the AHL.

Shame. I though a Tangradi-Cormier-Klingberg third line in a couple of years would be a near unstoppable force.

I'd do that in a heart beat. I know Thrashers already had Dupuis once but he'd fit the system well (though I don't see the Pens moving him). Dupuis + pick could be another option.

i'd trade bergfors for dupuis and a 2nd.

somehow i think dupuis would look nice playing with burmistrov and antropov has started to look like a first liner again so i wouldn't mind him playing on peverley's line.

If I recall correctly, Dupuis was traded to add value for the package, not because he was disliked. Not sure were he would fit on the team, but he could be a useful asset.
What sort of pick are we talking about?

I would take Dupius and a 3rd

He was the part I was more hurt by in the Hossa trade.

Well Ideally it should be a 3rd but we burned that trading for the rights to Hamhuis. Either Pens 2nd and Thrashers send back their 3rd or Pens give their 5th this year and 3rd next year or if you like one of our mid level prospects then that could work to.

What about Tyler Kennedy and a pick?

He's very similar to Bergfors with probably less potential. Both righties around the same age and cap hit under a million.

5-8-13 for Kennedy and 7-11-18 for Bergfors.

I'd trade for Bergfors just so he can't kill the Penguins anymore.

If ATL wanted a defenseman, I'd give Brian Strait, if they needed a forward, I'd give Veilleux, along with a 3rd, or something along those lines. Veilleux is real boom or bust, where as Strait is a pretty sure thing. With Dupuis being a UFA at the end of this season, I don't think ATL would take that deal.

I can see Atlanta taking Dupuis in the deal if:
1-They want to take a long run in the playoffs and think his experience will be an asset.
2-Or they believe they can re-sign him before July 1st.

Forgetting for a moment about his impending UFA status, Dupuis is actually a pretty good acquisition for a team with playoff aspirations. He's fast, good on the forecheck, good on the PK, defensively responsible, and can chip in a dozen or so goals. He's the ideal third line checker who can also fill in in the top six if necessary.

So I could see some kind of deal between Atlanta and Pittsburgh with Dupuis and Bergfors in the middle of it. I think it's the "plus" part that will decide whether it ultimately gets done.

We don't have our 2nd or 3rd this year (I think), so any middle draft picks would have to be from 2012 and beyond. And in terms of prospects, we don't have many that project to top six -- a lot of guys who could play in the NHL right now, but more in a bottom six or bottom defense pairing role. So I'm not sure which would be enticing to Atlanta.

That would be a better fit for the Pens imo. Duper plays well with Crosby....Atleast better then the other grinders. Duper will get a contract this offseason from the pens. He plays the system perfectly. He's a great 3rd liner and does alot for us for his price tag.

We still have our 2nd this year. Traded the 3rd for Hamhuis and 4th for Garon.

Would it be too risky to give up the Pens 1st for him?

I believe he was a former first round pick... he may not have much grinding ability, he could be the quality goal scorer that Geno needs.

900k would be a steal as well....

Hard to say, The healthy scratching isn't going to endear him to Shero. Sucks not having 3rd and 4th rounder this year but at least we've got two 7ths. He has the ability to be a consistent 25-25 guy which is pretty decent value for a late 1st.
