18 Dec 2010 - Wild kick Calgary's Ass on HNIC - 9PM, FSN

at
(13-13-4, 30pts) - (14-15-3, 31pts)

9PM, Scotiabank Saddledome

The Countdown to Couturier continues as the Wild probably drop another one to Calgary, and this one will be on Hockey Night in Canada, just to pile on the embarrassment.

The Wild will probably play a pretty decent first, make one mistake in the second and then just give up. Kipper's record against the Wild in Calgary is a gaudy 16-2-2, and I imagine Jerome Iginla will probably score two or three hat tricks, as usual. Up until recently, the Flames were one of the two teams worse than the Wild, but Calgary has since slipped into 13th over Minnesota.

If you want to tune in you're probably a masochist you can catch it on FS-N, or if you're lucky enough to have access you can hear decent commentary on the CBC.

The Todd, who is shockingly still technically an NHL coach, is "switching up the lines" tonight, which in his mind means swapping Kobasew and Miettinen.

Brunette-Koivu-Kobasew

Bouchard-Brodziak-Havlat

Clutterbuck-Cullen-Miettinen

O’Sullivan-Madden-Nystrom

Also, we'll be treated to a defensive pairing consisting of Spurgeon and Stoner, so there should be some absolutely spectacular goals tonight...

Zanon-Zidlicky
Schultz-Burns
Spurgeon-Stoner

Backs vs. Theo is being left as a gametime decision.

Where's Barker in your lineup? Is he injured? I think both sets of fans are sick of these teams playing so much, and we play again Monday!

Richards quote of the day: "We just talked about Thursday’s game. That was really it. I wanted their thoughts on the game.

- Todd Richards on a team meeting at center ice during Friday’s practice at Xcel Energy Center.

From Wild.com:

Cam Barker did not make the trip with the team in order to attend to a personal matter. Clayton Stoner will get back in the lineup.

Best GDT ever! Im not being sarcastic either, I'm actually loving the negativity now.

Flames 7 Wild 1

Richards still keeps his job & Fletcher does nothing...

*Thankfully I still got the Flyers & Kings to be excited about because the Wild are nothing short of embarrassing....

Also, I guess people will talk about the Wild in this thread after the game...

It should be a shame to get beaten up on HNIC IMO.

I'll be at the game, wearing my Koivu jersey. I'm expecting a similar result to the last Flames/Wild game I went to 2 years ago(free tickets only way I go to Flames games, not worth $$$ when over half are available in HD), when Gabby/Johnny were out and our only goal was a review(Veilleux).

Hopefully I don't get spat on, as it happened to one of my co-workers on Thursday when he was wearing a Leafs jersey.

If I see you, I'll yell saywut. If its another Wild fan, it won't be too embarrassing. No spitting though.

So.. we can get either Larsson, Couturier, or Nugent-Hopkins, depending who they pick. I'm ok with that.

Pathetic, but a little funny too.

I'll be watching the game tonight. I hope the Wild can win this one.

Ya. I'd have to imagine it's going to get extremely old moving forward. Embrace the masochist movement everyone!

I'll probably fall asleep before the game even beings again tonight. Been drinking away the stress from the work week all day. I'm going to tune into FSN at 6:30 to watch the '03 Semifinal Game 6, though...

I'll say the wild win a tight one 7-6. Iginla with the double hat trick and Kiprusoff gets the shutout(both on my fantasy team.) lol

There's other Wild fans in Calgary?!?!? With a Koivu jersey on top of that?!?!

We're not getting a top-3(or top-5 most likely) pick. I'd have Landeskog over RNH myself, and over Larsson if we can extend Burns. Larsson's probably the #1 guy for both the Islanders and Devils anyways.

The concern isn't really in who we pick, because some will hate it and others will love it. Its about how that player develops so that he can become a key contributor on the Wild. We haven't had success developing our 1st round picks since 2003, and 2003 was the year which we made our biggest reach(Burns).

I'm smelling a blowout 5-2.

Haven't decided who will win yet.
