Olli Määtä

He's the youngest guy at the U20's this year at 16 years old.

He's a 6'1" (185 cm) d-man...

... What's so special about him?

A good player for his age. But nothing special and shouldn't be there.

Was it just not enough D that were good and his age available?

I looked him up and wasn't overly impressed...

Why not Rasmus Ristolainen?

Are you serious or joking?

Olli Määttä: 22 games in Mestis, 8 points, +15(9th in the league)!!!

Rasmus Ristolainen: 13 games in Junior A, 3 points, -10 (14th worst in the league)!!!.

I think it's pretty clear which one is more accomplished...

Ristolainen has played average game against other juniors. He is very impressive for someone his age but since he doesn't really stand out in juniors, you can't expect him to play in WJC.

Määttä has played fairly well against men in second highest level in Finland. That is something too few of our defenders have accomplished. But still I doubt that he is so good that he should play this young in WJC.

Anyway it seems that there are few promising prospects in 94's. Määttä, Ristolainen and Ville Pokka seems to be very good for someone their age.
