... The failure to win faceoffs, some bad luck, and some really weak calls did the Kings in tonight. They played a great game.

The Hawks blocked TWENTY-TWO shots tonight, and still the Kings got more shots on net than the Hawks did. The Kings attempted 60 shots, the Hawks just 40.

I don't know how Drew Doughty can play over 27 minutes and not manage to get a shot on goal, but somehow he did it. I don't know how Stoll can win 5 out of 6 faceoffs and the other centers win just 12 out of 39, but somehow they did it.

This is one that got away.

Kings really struggle without Mitchell. Here's to a healthy second half.

Doughty had a few get blocked and a few that missed the night. He might need to work on subtracting some velocity in favor of accuracy.

So much for the Hawks are done after cap trouble...........

We are still the easiest team to score against.
Still no concept in offense or defense zone.

Pull away Simmonds lucky goal and you have the real result.

Anyways, next game is against the red hot Avalanch

A better question is why does Stoll only get 6 attempts? Murray is a terrible game day coach.

Let's get Brown back in the right side and Williams back with Stoll and Smyth.

Roll 4 lines with Clifford-Richardson-Lewis. Time to dictate the style rather than play to your opponent.

I'm really not sure if Kopitar was outhustled here or just couldn't catch up to Pisani. If I have time later I'll go back to that and see if I can tell. Kopitar definitely didn't make the play on Pisani, but this was also the play where they were attacking on the rush and Williams shot it wide, and it came all the way out to the neutral zone. The Hawks grabbed it and were on the attack. It's possible Kopitar just couldn't catch up.

Drew needs to stop hesitating. He always had a good shot, did he change his stick?

Looks like the Avs will pick up a point or 2 tonight. This would mean that all of the Western teams picked up a point except the Kings.

Nice job by TM to change a line up that had been scoring and clicking so well together. Other than that its just a loss. No big deal.

We can and will bounce back, its just a loss. No biggie.

I think the defense is getting on him quickly and he hasn't adjusted yet. He needs to start wristing it at the net quickly. Get them on net.

... Kopitar got to the boards too late, just as the puck sailed by him. He did hustle back, but couldn't get to Pisani in time.

Not that worried about the Avs. You can't score 5 goals a night and give up 4. I think they will cool off.

That goal is still on Williams. You can't miss that wide in the second period. You know it is a long change for your defense. Kopitar is heading to the net for the rebound and there was no way to get to the boards in time.

Frustrating to come out with a loss. It wasn't for lack of effort. Western conference is going to be close all season. Tonight's loss stings less when you consider we still have games in hand on a few teams: 5 Anaheim, 4 Chicago, 2 San Jose.

Simmonds and Clifford are finding chemistry together. Handzus still looks too conservative in the offensive zone, where's the drive Zeus? Johnson has been very steady for awhile, and Scuderi is a bit of an unsung hero right now, playing so good.

too early to be looking at that. No need to worry about other teams at this point, should still be focusing on hitting the 100 point mark. If the team does that, they will either be top or close to the top of the Pacific

Kings are 2-2 on this road trip, despite only playing 10 minutes of it with a fully healthy D. Thats pretty good

I'm worried about all teams that pick up loser points. Kings are the only western team below 3 loser points.

Kings need to start getting to OT. They've lost a few tie games late and have been unable to tie games in the third.

Cap Hell + Stanley Cup beat Cap Space every time. Cap Space is the most over rated player in hockey, the guy has done nothing this season. He looks out of shape, he can't skate, he's a locker room cancer and he NEVER back checks. Cap Space=Petr Klima. Get rid of Cap Space now!

... I'm not blaming Kopitar, not even Williams really for that matter. It was just one of those things. Sure, I would like to see Williams put it on net there, but that's not a mental error - it's a physical one, and I can tolerate the physical errors. **** happens.

Loser points are getting ridiculous. Better be gone next season.

The Kings played well enough to win tonight, but once again, allowing the other team to answer back right after the Kings score a goal is demoralizing. Once again, the Kings shoot themselves in the foot. They're their own worst enemy.

While logically that is true, there is a lot of evidence that the standings don't change too much after 30 games. Injuries can change some team's fortunes, but it is important for the Kings to find ways to get games like tonight to OT.

You wouldnt be saying that had Martin Erat not thrown the puck up the middle of the ice in game 5 of the first round last year
