Which ones have a chance to stick in the NHL as 18 yr olds? Landeskog and Saad?

I really like Rieder, as he is a fellow German, but I wouldn't rank him ahead of Jensen and Namestnikov at this point.

Keep an eye on Ben Thomson in the second half, Brock. Especially with how he's been playing the last couple weeks.

I think there are a few guys who have a really good chance of sticking in the NHL next year.

Landeskog is a lock IMO. He's NHL ready.

Saad I'm not sure about. Personally, I think he could use another year of junior to get stronger on and off the puck, but his speed and skating ability alone could probably allow him to function in a secondary scoring role.

Dougie Hamilton has the size and smarts to play in the NHL next year IMO. He's more NHL ready than Erik Gudbranson is and Gudbranson nearly made the Panthers this year. Hamilton has some refining to do with his offensive game, so I think he could use another year of junior, but you never know.

Daniel Catenacci and Boone Jenner could be guys kept up because of their strong two way games. They wouldn't look out of place on the bottom two lines of an NHL club, Catenacci especially with his speed. They'd obviously be better served to return for another junior season, but it's not impossible.

Duininck would have likely been number 31 on that list. I like him as a player, big strong defender who moves well. Definitely has NHL potential.

That being said, Sproul is a 6'4 offensive defenseman with very good agility and quickness. He's gone through a massive growth spurt the past year and a bit and is still growing into his frame. Definitely a lot of potential there.

I noticed he's picked it up offensively lately, which is great. I haven't seen the Rangers since late November, so I'll have to keep an eye on him.

He's definitely an intriguing player with his size and the intangibles he brings to the ice.

Good analysis. Landeskog, at this point, is going first. Saad seems to be dropping but I am not sure why. If he has a good WJC then I look for him to be 2 or 3.

Catenucci has been a bright spot for what has been an otherwise dismal year for the Soo. But I don't believe he's less than a year ready for the show. He needs to get much much stronger.

Nick Cousins
Needs to learn that there are two blue lines...I wouldn't rate him that high.

Sproul registered his first career hat trick tonight, plus an assist. Kid is really comming on in the 2nd half, he has a shot that reminds me of Josh Godfrey, hard and accurate. I think he could creep into the 3rd or 4th round if he continues to progress like he has the past 20 games or so.

Hello,

The Bruins have been spotted watching Scheifele, and they would be presently drafting 23rd overall. He may have slumped a little when you wrote the article, but he's come on strong with a point per game in his last 15. He's also been one of the leaders of the team since the departure of most of the remaining 2009-2010 holdovers. I think he's going first round, around 20-25, which would put him higher on your list of OHL players.

Best Regards,
Shawn

Goal and an assist again so far tonight. Suffice to say, he's someone to seriously look out for as the season comes to a close.

Agree Shawn. He's definitely higher on that list now, than when I made it at the end of December. I still don't think I'm as high on him as some other media outlets (like his ranking on Bobby Mac's list), but there's no doubt he's probably up towards the top 15 or so on that list now.
