Not to rag on the OP, but I have NO idea how this is related to the Canadiens or hockey at all.

How to go from hero to zero in 48 hours...

Using the senate and its public funds as a leverage to get elected is a serious lack of ethics and a travesty of the federal institutions.

This type of senator appointment by the PM is so democratic. The question is who pays their astronomic salaries...

Democracy my butt.

So he's complaining about the catastrophic decrease in pay to serve the public, as he put it.... WOW! I wish I made 130.000 thousand that a Senator makes a year. Sorry Larry you just lost my vote.

I hope there's an election in the spring. I'm conservative, but I can't wait to vote liberal to get this guy out. He is socially conservative, I want some fiscal conservatives in place. Liberals offer a better chance of us putting money into our own problems instead of the military and war. Get out Harper, you are ruining Canada.

Man... this guy is up to an epically bad start...

Really, really hard to relate or sympathize with a man like that.

As for the pay cut comment, here's a CBC article on it. It was on a TV show last night I think?

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2010/...h.html?ref=rss

To quote the article:

Quote:
Smith made the comment in an interview Wednesday on CBC's Power & Politics with Evan Solomon.

[...]

"You have to understand that I've worked very hard over my career and, to do what I'm doing now, I'm making a major, major concession in my lifestyle to even be a senator," Smith said.

"In simple terms, the money I was earning in my last profession to where I would be in this profession is what I would call a dramatic, catastrophic pay cut. And I have a family — I have obligations ... I am making a major commitment to do what I'm going to do so I don't look at it as being cynical at all."

He also advised mayor Lebaume to look for private investors for his arena, 'cause the feds won't contribute. (hey - there's the Hockey related content in this thread !)

The guy lost a lot of points in my book, ever since his son issue in the Als organization.

Let's hope the best for him! I'd vote for him if I were living where he'll try to get elected.

It would be great for MTL to be represented by conservative deputys in the canadian parliment.

So you believe the Liberals could do better, I am just very thankful you do not have the only vote, the Liberals would have buried this country, we would have been way worse off than the US, thankfully we survied the recession quite well. As for your comments on the military and war, typical Liberal, I bet you are no more conservative than I am a Liberal. Bet you want to bring Kadhr back to Canada also, when they do I hope he move to Montreal.

There is no way Canada would have been affected by the crisis that badly anyway because of our banking system.

And that Kadhr comment... just wow. Stop trolling.

That said, I'm not a mod, but I would strongly suggest people stop with the partisan talk. I don't want to know who you vote for.

No kidding! Poor Larry's family will never make it without Caviar and Dom Perignon. He should have stayed in the corporate sector, he's cooked in Lac St. Louis...

I always find it interesting how you really can judge books by their cover. People that can't spell and generally suffer through grammar are being up front in telling the reader it's not worth their time to read what they have to say. So not only are you up front with this, BBB24, but you also limit the exposure we have to you with your double digit post count. Frankly, I think that's terrific on both counts.
