Jackets are shuffling the forwards trying to get some offense

Huselius - Vermette - Nash
Umberger - Brassard - Voracek

the rest is basically the same.

Garon in net.

Funny... we feel the same way! LoL...

Actually, this game could go either way.

I'm going to call 2-1 CBJ, breaking the slump.

I am surprised to see Pardy back in the line-up. I thought for sure he would be out.

Not going to bother watching this game but still hope the lose: we need a high pick!!!

Are any Jacket players on a long goal drought etc? Expect them to break it tonight as per usual

Trying to get offense eh? The problem is guys like Huselius, Vermette, or Brassard, aren't on Nash's level. We have the same problem in Calgary trying to get players to play with Iggy. If only we had Nash, or if only you had Iggy...

Actually Columbus does not have that much of a problem, Brassard is looking like he could be a number 1 center really soon, the guy is having an awesome year.

Karlson will be in net for the Flames, and I have a bad feeling for this game to. After seeing that 3rd period effort last night I don't expect anything to change overnight.

I'll probably watch this game and have the Thrashers Blues game on my laptop. Probably watch the Colorado-LA game later on too.

With the way this season has gone, I'd be more surprised to hear anyone say they have a good feeling about any upcoming game.

More in the sense that Calgary doesn't even put in an effort, which they have been this past month. I think they come out flat footed and won't be surprised if they get beat down pretty bad tonight.

Wow - reading this GDT is like reading our own in CBJ land.

*checks standings*

Oh.

IMO it's more a lack of talent than it is effort. This team just isn't good enough to compete in the Western Conference. Sometimes it is due to lack of urgency and effort, but more often than not when the effort is there, they just can't come through with enough goals to win. It doesn't help that this team is very mentally fragile.

DSL is right, this is almost word for word from recent posts on the Jackets board. Hey, somebody's got to win, so one group of us will shuffle gingerly back from the edge.

Exactly. The effort is there, the talent and the ability to finish is not. Listening to Loubardias saying "The Flames dominated the entire game only to come up JUST short" is getting annoying. Yes we get it!! We have a bunch of work horses with little to no talent, other than Tanguay and Hagman. And those guys are 2nd line talent at best. Sorry I love Tanguay but he is a 2nd liner on any other team. This team NEEDS to be reconstructed by a new GM and that is final. There's no other options.

The Flames should win this game, but I won't be at all surprised to see them lose either. They know that their season is slipping away and after their last string of consecutive losses to the Wild, it will be interesting to see if they come out like a defeated team or a team that can bounce back and show some resiliency.

I'm happy that Killer Karl will get the start. Maybe he'll inject some life into the team?

This team has looked pretty flat even though Jokinen scored. Karlsson has looked really good though.

I'm guessing that if the Flames are still several games below 0.500 by the new year, Brent gets fired and Darryl goes behind the bench. In an ideal world, it would be Darryl getting fired now so not only could the the club start looking for a replacement GM, but have the interim GM in Feaster prepare to sell off as many contracts as possible at the trade deadline.

I think the ownership group feel they owe him at least one more chance after he essentially resurrected the franchise in 04. But given how terribly constructed this team is, he's not going to achieve much and hopefully gets shown the door by April at the latest. Ideally, he'd be fired now so not only could the the club start looking for a replacement GM, but have the interim GM in Feaster prepare to sell off as many contracts as possible at the trade deadline.
