While we're on the whole benching underachieving players deal, I think it's time to sit Bourque for a few games.

Well in a three game stretch that could have put us legitimately in the playoff hunt: 0 points.

That's the kind of go-get 'em attitude that I've come to expect from this team.

I feel confident that the team will get some late season pride and make a push to get themselves out of the top 5. The "Push for Puempel" I suppose it would be called. Not that he would be a bad addition to the organization at any stretch, I just liked the alliteration.

Karlsson played really well. Out of curiosity, where do Flames fans see him fitting in with the Flames organization in the future? Any chance of nudging Kiprusoff out of the starter spot?

Damn!.. I feel so bad for Flames fans these days. I bet it's really hard to stay interested in hockey when your team is going nowhere.

It definitely opens up that possibility, especially if the team decides to go into full rebuild.

It's tough to judge because he's played 6 games in the NHL so far. He has the size and tools so it's possible that he becomes a starter someday. I'd like to see him start more and more games as the season goes on. Right now though, he's not about to take Kipper's spot. If we rebuild and trade Kipper I can see him splitting duty with Leland Irving, who has been lights out in the AHL.

Aaaaand there it is. I much prefer scorn and ridicule to sympathy and pity. It makes me feel like an Isles fan.

Another loss to another Western conference bottom feeder. Yet another example that D. Sutter needs to be fired. Next up for the Flames are Dallas and Colorado, I say the Flames win 1 out of 2 of these games. That would give them 33 points on the year and put them on pace to finish last in the West by seasons end. Currently, it looks like they will be around 10 points out of 8th place at the end of this month. By Sutter's own addmission there is a big difference from being 4 points out of 8th and 10 points out of 8th. If this is how we finish off the month, changes have to be in the works.

If they also continue at this pace for the rest of season, then they are on pace to get roughly 72-76 points this year, and probably even less if they sell off our "top" players to rebuild. I think it is now feasable to think that if we rebuild and fire Sutter that the Flames get around 70 points which would easily put them among the bottom teams in the NHL. As a comparasion Edmonton finished with 62 points last year and next was TO at 74 points. Colorado finished with 95 points last year to creep into the playoffs as the 8th seed in the West.

It is looking dam near impossible that the Flames even get to 90 points to get into the playoffs, they would need to play close to the same winning % as Detroit or Philly to get in as the 8th seed. The season now is pretty much a for gone conclusion that it is going to be a failure. There is not much else to say, changes needs to be made. Fire Sutter already!

I was expecting them to lose out the rest of the month, Dallas has not been a good arena to play in for the Flames. Colorado seems to have their number the over the past year or so. For the Buffalo game its a toss up, see what team shows up but the way this team has been scoring wouldn't be surprised to see Miller get the SO.

Regardiong Karlsson, sure it has only been 6 games but besides one game he has been great... should the Flames blow it up and rebuild (moving Kipper)... Karlsson could possibly be a starter. What a depressing thought, trading Kipper the way he has played.

If I were running the Flames, I'd look to move Iginla, Regehr and Kiprusoff.

I'm not expecting much out of this team, believe me.

I actually hope we lose both so something is done.

I'd rather trade him now when his value is high, than trade him two years ago when he was the second coming of Jim Carey...
