Certainly nothing suggests he'd be better than Martin or any other proven coach we could hire.

I just get the feeling people are slowly trying to convince themselves that the habs are failing because they only hire coaches who can speak french and are going to get all upset when Muller doesn't get the job because you know he never will.
Will Muller be a good NHL coach? Only time will tell, but I'd say that he's got solid credentials as far as ex-players go...

known as a good/great leader as a player, ~1400 games played + ~60 games representing Canada, 6 NHL seasons as captain, cup winner...

retired in 03, started coaching in 05... started @ amateur level (CIS), then team Canada, then the bigs...

coaching with habs since '06, surviving 3 coaching changes...

I'd say that's a resume worthy of a shot as an NHL coach. Will he be any good? only time will tell.

If he doesn't get serious consideration for the Habs job when Martin leaves, it would be hard to understand that as anything but a language issue, and fans would be justified in questioning the wisdom behind that.

or him not being interested.

cause with all the head-coaching changes in the NHL since he's asst coach with the Habs I have a hard time believing he didnt receive any offer... it's possible but...

Wasn't there a rumour that he was offered the Devils coaching job?

I dunno... my mind is filling in the **** with all kinds of different stuff, and I think most of it either hurts or is dangerously unsanitary.

What a joke.

I'm not Martin's biggest supporter, but it's amazing seeing fans turn on him after two weeks of bad hockey. It's Martin' faut, it's Picard's fault, it's Spacek's fault, bla bla bla... Soon I guess it's going to be the media's fault.

It's not an individual, it's the TEAM. Everybody was signing his praises a few weeks ago and now it's the same coach, same players, same GM. Relax, take a deep breath, and let the TEAM work it out.

In other words, he was a scapegoat. That is completely idiotic.

I defended Martin through last year, I said I wanted to give him a year before starting to criticize, especially since we were constantly injured.
Although I find he's done a pretty good job with the system this year generally speaking, I never was a fan of how he handles some of his players (and lines).

Some people have short memory... Remember playoff run last season? Martin's system? It's always easy to blame the coach when guys like Gomez, Spacek are doing nothing on the ice.

I guess 6 points in 4 games is nothing according to your fair standards. Haters gonna hate.

I like Coach Martin. I have no concerns with him as coach. He's miles ahead of Carbo, for my taste anyhow.

I really think Muller has lots of potential and I hope he's the Head Coach-in-waiting. And I hope he's content to wait. Other teams must surely be interested... I have a nightmare scenario that I don't want to see pan-out.

Muller will never be a Habs coach and it has everything to do with politics.

He's not French.

Don't know know that with anglo coaches we'd probably have 50 Stanley Cups by now. Just look at the stats, an anglo coach wins the cup ALMOST EVERY YEAR!!!!

meh...

Muller can learn to speak French to an acceptable level.
He is not to go and work for the TML

That would be a factor in my retaining him. We don't need to be helping those guys.

ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever

Losing a nice prospect to Tampa was one thing but losing a guy like Muller to the TML would be insufferable.

can't happen.
