If he was traded I'd only miss him in the shootout.

If he was consistent he'd be one of the best players in the league. Whenever this forum gets down on him he makes some absolutely beauties.

Unless he plays with the talent that he definitely has on a consistent basis I don't see him being a key part of this teams future. We have a lot of young talent coming up, plus the possibility of Brad Richards. I just don't see this team going far with the EC we have seen so far, especially centering our top line.

I like EC. He has a good skill set, but as everyone knows/said he's extremely inconsistent.

I don't think he has much of a future with this team past this season, though.

Too bi-polar to fit our identity. He's a fine 4th liner, but if he sniffs the top-6, we gotta problem.

Overall he amounts to a 3rd or 4th line type who can contribute offensively on occasion. But the guy sure as heck has some sick hands and a wicked wrister. I don't really know why it is he can't put it together. He has a very cool and calm demeanor. Sounds like a guy who has a good head on his shoulders. And yet to hear him describe himself on the ice and how he gets down on himself and frustrated... makes him sound like a basket case. He certainly is a strange one to figure out. He definitely shouldn't be a center. And if he was in fact centered by somebody that could make the play happen with a talented winger on the other side, he'd probably put up some big #'s.

As much as everybody hates EC for being inconsistent. He's been more consistent than Gaborik has been this season...

Too much talent for me to give up on him. He has scored some clutch goals this season, two shootout winners, a few tie game or turnaround goals.

He reminds me of a poor man's Petr Nedved (which tells you something about how inconsistent he is). He's got a very similar skill set and way of playing the game (especially similar on the powerplay when playing the half boards, IMO).

I'd be intrigued to see an EC-Richards-Gaborik line.

Of course, Sather did sign Christensen to a two year deal, this summer. Unless he's traded, most likely he'll be back.

As others have said he's what.....unusual...maybe?

An enigma no doubt, but you never know. Come Playoff time he could pull a jack rabbit out of his arse and score some clutch goals.

He will have a game where he scores a pretty goal and makes a couple of really nices passes that get people excited about his skill level. Then he will be invisible for the next 5 games. Christensen is way too inconsistent to be a top 6 player and he is too soft to be an effective bottom 6 player. He will eventually be our 13th forward.

As much as I hate him, he should be playing with Gaborik for now. Gaborik and Christensen somehow seem to play much better when it's together. Play Stepan with Avery and Fedotenko again like the beginning of the year because I loved that line.

"That alone, in my opinion, makes him valuable to the New York Rangers. He is a big-time player, one that emerges when the team needs a key goal. I guess you can compare him to captain Chris Drury in some ways, but Drury has a lot of other intangibles that he brings to the ice. Christensen, for the most part, is one dimensional."
He's not a big time player, a big time player would score and help the team win, he doesn't. He doesn't come through in the clutch he mearly gets lucky once in a while when he decides to try and score a goal by himself. Also him and drury are polar opposites dru plays good defense christensen doesn't, Christensen scores nice goals once in a while drury scores grind it out type goals once in a while, and drifts a leader EC is not. Aside from that It makes sense he's valuable but at the same time he is not, he has value to this team but no other team is chomping at the bit to add this guy to their lineup.

He's too inconsistent to give top line minutes to on a nightly basis. I think the only positive role for him is as an extra forward that steps in for short stretches while guys are banged up. Relying on him at a top 12 guy exposes us as a team missinf pieces.

I don't think its inconsistency.

He don't create options for himself. He can't open up ice for himself.

A great player will always show the D that he have at least 2 options. He can go wide. He can go on the inside. And maybe he have a passing option or two on top of that. The foreplay before the "deke" is like 50% of the work. Make the D confused. Make the D aware of the fact that you can make a bunch of plays. That will make the D fall back. That will make the D give you room.

A player like EC always seems to almost get sucked into the D's web so to speak. Give him a little tiny bit of room and he will be deadly and rip one. But in the NHL you don't get that room for free. And he can't create it for himself.

IMO he'd be missed if we got rid of him/if he got hurt...right now at least.

Obviously if Brad Richards or another center came along like Tim Connolly, Christensen would probably be an afterthought, but he's been good for us.

Any negativity towards Christensen is inexplicable. He makes less than a million dollars a year and will probably get around 40-45 points. Probably would've been on pace for more if Gaborik didn't get hurt and wasn't in this slump.

EC is not a liability so he's a keeper for now. And he's the only one who can score in the shootout. I don't care where he plays, as long as he's in.

EC is usefull on the PP and Shootouts. I figure he will be moved in an attempt to get a C for Gaborik but I could be wrong. Perhaps Prospal is that guy but that may be alot to ask given his injury woes
