They'd better do it now because these are probably the two least formidable opponents on this seven-game road trip. Even a split would be ugly.

We see that an individual isn't going to bring us out of this slump. There is one reason why we're losing: poor decisions. Poor decisions at all spots on the ice. There is essentially no connection between our forwards and defensemen. We've seen this kind of slump many times throughout the last few seasons and the truth is that without Markov, we lose our #1 guy when it comes to moving the puck up the ice.

I don't really have a problem with benching Subban/Pouliot because they're making BAD decisions lately. And that's what, IMO, Martin is trying to get the players to see. How does a guy who's supposed to be a scoring machine miss a goal like that against Dallas? It's poor decisions and poor anticipation. Martin is trying to send a message to this team that it's not a matter of poor work ethic or poor attitude, it's simply a lack of hockey smarts over the past few games.

Things Habs need to work on to get back to their winning ways:

1) Close the gap between forwards and defensemen to allow our transition game (which I think is one of the best in the league when firing on all cylinders) to rebuild
2) Play smarter in the crease and challenge players instead of frantically searching for pucks and missing out on plays
3) Drive harder to the net and make the goalie's life difficult
4) Stop with the cheesy passes out of our zone and especially stop trying to force lanes when they're not there

Pouliot and Subban are scratched for a reason: to send a big message to the team that they need to play SMARTER. I feel as if it's Martin saying "this is your punishment". I can only assume that he doesn't want to win games because Pouliot can score goals better than Pyatt. He wants to win games because every single player was focused mentally and scored goals because of thoughtful plays.

We need to force more turnovers, we need to anticipate plays better and most of all we need to close that gap in the neutral zone.

We will win tonight. They'll get the message. 4-1 Habs.
Well thank you sir.

After reading the first four pages of blind whining and Martin bashing your post was well thought and refreshing.

This! Last time Chri Lee reffed a game between the habs and the Canes I think the penalties were like 11 to 0...

Thank you for reading. I'm glad to know that there are still some intelligent posters here. I HATE writing that much and having no one read it because they just want to moan about which player is scratched.

Ray Ferrarro really discredited himself with his uncalled for outburst last season. It's hard to take him seriously any more.
