I'd rather PG go out and get a veteran dman to fill in for Gorges than deal for Arnott...

Sorry if I came out as a smart ass myself, that wasn't my intent. As for Damphousse and Turgeon I didn't think of them as, back then, my team's centres were Sakic and Forsberg.

Lastly, I hope you're not refering to today's Arnott when you mention a #1 type center.

I'm sure you're not, you know better....

Based on Gauthier's comments, he's already found someone to fill in for Gorges. He mentioned that he had known about Gorges' injury for a while and that is why he dealt for Wisniewski. I assumed PG's sole intention was to improve his power play.

Considering this, he must be contented with his defense.

Sorry Guilliam, I was referring to myself being a smart ass, not you.

Oh and no, today's Arnott is far from being a #1 type center IMO.

Don't think we want Arnott. I think we're calling about Clarkson.

Ek is again talking about Frolov to the Habs today for a "key" prospect from the Habs going to the Rags.. He beat the Bieksa to the Habs to death for weeks and since picking up Wiz the Bieksa to the Habs crap as been forgotten..

Honestly I don't want to give up a "key" prospect for half a season of Frolov but for someone like Maxwell I could live with having Frolov on the Habs..

On Frolov, the Habs, and the Rangers...

More and more I am hearing the Canadiens are interested in Frolov. The Rangers have their eye on a key prospect from Montreal as well as a MAJOR pending UFA Defenseman they will need to open up space for...sounds like Bryan McCabe.

Habs definitely need a top six forward, not another d-man.

Clarkson, yes...

And Brouwer from Chicago for the top-two lines.

EDIT: Frolov is out for the season with surgery coming.

On another note, I don't think Eklund follows the injury report when he makes up his rumours, he has the Caps wanting Giggy from the Leafs?

Giggy has groin issues, really bad and there is no way a team wants him when the goalies they have are out performing him.

Also, why would Gauthier want Frolov?

When the rumours for Frolov were around Montreal per Eklund Gainey was GM, then PG...Frolov wouldn't be the flavour of the week for both GM's and if PG passed on him as a UFA there is no way he wants a trade for him either.

The Habs need a Dman and a top 6 forward with size, Frolov has size but doesn't use it and we have a player like that in AK who has flashes of greatness and then goes into hiding for long periods of time.

seriously ? You think our depth chart looks good with Picard at #6 and Weber at #7 ? Gill, Spacek and Hammer are old, they cannot do all the heavy lifting. They already looked tired, now with Gorges gone, they will die before the home stretch

I pencil a shut down dman with PK efficiency as our number one priority !

edit : btw, I agreee that we also need a top6 winger ; not just as badly as we need a dman

Typical Eklund, he includes Montreal and Toronto in every blog to get hits...right now Giguere is immovable because he has a 6 mil cap hit and he's playing like crap, Washington is better off with Varlamov or Neuvrith.

No Frolov for us, though with Pacioretty's play I can't see us paying much for a forward.

Giguere will be a UFA so he's movable. But yeah, injuries will make him a big gamble for anyone interested. His value is low and because of it, Burke will most likely just keep him. He's a really greedy man.

Anyways, I can't see Washington trading away either of their young goaltenders...and I can't imagine a menage trois...

I could see Chris Philips being traded here. He would most likely be a strict rental and re-sign with Ottawa in the summer.

He's a guy who i'd love to target in free agency. Are you so sure he re-signs with ottawa? I don't see any reason why anyone would want to.

Ottawa are having loads of financial problems. They will loose money if they don't play AT LEAST two rounds of playoffs. They gonna try to get rid of some big salaries in a very near future. Phillips might be one of them. But I would try to trade Gonchar and Kovy. That would be a good start.

Melynk is a billionaire, this isn't the same Sens being owned by Firestone and no money.

They will lose money, but Melnyk isn't going to go under.
