You guy are missing the point here. Eklund says that La would then flip the prospect(s) and Pick(s) for proven NHL star.

So if this is true then Montreal Offering guys like Eller / Tinordi and picks is possible.

Of course this is all heresy anyway as these are Eklund rumours after all!

I know it's eklund, but if we want to be even somewhat realistic here, it starts with understanding that JMFJ, Brown and Simmonds would never be packaged together. MAYBE two

Dustin Brown
Wayne Simmonds
Bud Holloway
4th Rounder

for

Andrei Kostitsyn
Lars Eller
Jarred Tinordi
2011 1st Rounder
2012 2nd or 3rd Rounder

The way I see it breaking down is Eller/1st <-----> Brown/4th, and AKost/Tinordi/Pick <-----> Simmonds/Holloway

Pacioretty-Plekanec-Gionta
Cammalleri-Gomez-Brown
Pouliot-Desharnais-Simmonds
Darche-Halpern-White
Moen

but adding those 2 to our top-9 would give us the kind of balance we're missing to have a truly elite group of forwards.

(assuming A.Kost gets moved...)

Pouliot - Pleks - Gionta
Cammalleri - Gomez - Brown
MaxPac - DD - Simmonds
Moen - Eller - Pyatt/Darche

that would be a pretty solid lineup, assuming Gomez could start producing with some consistency, we'd have 3 lines with a nice combination of skill/speed/grit. No "tough guys", but enough tough players that we wouldn't need to take **** from anyone.

first 3 lines would give other teams fits b/c all three would be almost equally dangerous making match-ups almost impossible.
What happened to Halpern?

It makes sense. I was assuming myself if the Habs were to make a trade it would be after the game, not before as we need bodies. Any player we are to get could then join the team in Vancouver for Tuesdays game.

Also makes sense to not have some news with the two teams involved over-shadow the game.

I really doubt something happens but it's pretty common-sensical to make that prediction.

Habs would be good to watch after the game if they made any move! You know Mara was a HUGE signing!

Would you guys really pay AKost/Tinordi/Pick for Simmonds? A guy that has an average of roughly 28 points/season thus far in the NHL?

When I've seen him he has been solid, but not good enough to be worth a 40 point-scorer, a supposedly pretty good prospect and a second round-draft pick.

I really would welcome the addition of Wayne here but not for that package, I think we could do better then Simmonds for Tinordi + AK

I doubt LA is looking to add much salary, let alone moving a bargain like Simmonds (or Dustin Brown) would seem bizzare. Unless LA has a big fish targeted, I doubt they do much if anything to their roster - especially if it means moving the likes of Simmonds or Brown, considering they have cap friendly contracts, and they contribute immensely to their club.

has been lots of talks of a big name centerman in LA for weeks now, Richards or Spezza come to mind. It will be another fun week until the deadline is over

Would Mike Cammalleri bring Brown + Simmonds in a deal, or would Montreal have to add? It would give LA some additional scoring from a former player, plus they have mad depth in the minors. It would give MTL a winger with grit and skill to replace Cammo and a third line winger to help Eller and Pouliot.

I would laugh if they traded for Tanguay. Not really laughter, probably tears of a soon-to-be serial killer.

LA won't take Cammy Back. I heard that things got nasty between the 2 sides when he was up for a new contract. Then he got traded to the flames. I think Lombardi was still GM at the time. So no way.

I hope Ek is right that the Canadiens will be an interesting team to watch after the classic, because they arent interesting to watch during.

It's pretty clear to see after this game that they need a power forward-type. Heck, a guy like Darche was actually sorely missed today. This looked a lot like the Boston game. We don't necessarily need to change up our game against these teams, but we literally had nobody putting pressure on their defense. I think a trade has to be coming.
