Any Hemsky news?

I heard he has been skating hard, anyone know when he is aiming for his return?

26th vs the Nucks would be a nice gift...

Last I read he was going to practice with the team after Christmas.

From Brownlee at ON on 12/12/2010

Stortini, Jacques, MacIntyre, O'Marra and Omark should be worried. Heh.

I have Hemsky in my Yahoo pool and they said he could be nearing a return soon.

I'd say the Oilers probably give him one more week and he returns New Years vs Calgary.

should be worried, although Omark didn't get a point last night, or win it in a shootout he possess a strong hockey sense and the ability to win the puck in corners

Let Hemmer enjoy the Christmas break and return well rested with some fire in him, will be wonders when he returns to the lineup.

ASAP would be great

The Oilers really need a veteran like ALES HEMSKY back in the line-up as soon as possible if Renney still wants to make the playoffs.

Renney told us we're going to the playoffs already but thanks for coming out bud.

Hall - Horcoff - Eberle
Penner - Cogliano - Omark
PVR - Gagner - Hemsky
Jones - Omarra - Stortini/Brule

That is what they should roll with if they actually had aspirations of making the playoffs like they like to pretend they do, but they'll prob send Omark and Omarra down when Horcoff and Hemsky both return.

I might be taking a day trip to Pardubice in the next day or two. Someone there must know, I'll ask around.

Lol. I was there for the World Juniors in 08. Not the most, er, picturesque city in Europe, but the people were really friendly. They didn't always speak English very well, but they'd try when they saw my Canada jersey. Whenever I said I was from Edmonton it was always something like, "My friend says to tell you he played with Ales!" "Oh, yeah, when was that?" "When they were seven." I had a good time there.

no buddy.

Penner - Hall- Eberle <---just watch Hall play center
Cogliano - Gagner - Hemsky <---Gagner and Cogs back together?
Paajarvi - Horcoff - Omark/Reddox<---The next best Swedish hockey duo
Jones - Brule- Stortini/Smack <--- until Brule smartens up.

if all it took was a turn over to make that decision then Hemsky would never make it back to the line up

but on a more serious note,, why the heck would you ignor Omarks work ethic, cycle ability, hard to knock off the puck and hockey sense? id easily keep Omark over Stortini, Jacques, MacIntyre, O'Marra and Cogs... and if was possible, 1/2 our defence..

I was as critical of Omark even before he was given a shot as much as anyone, but im willing to admit i was wrong, hes exaclty what this team needs more of, Grit with the puck...

every player on this teams caused goals, singling out Omark for it is just being short sighted

I don't think he meant to single one play, but he's really only had 2 good games, and he's been pretty easy to take the puck from. Could get better as he adjusts though

Omark is still the real deal, so much hockey sense it could make you cry.

Brule, Vandermeer, Hemsky all skating but will be out for tonight. Lines will be the same as Thursday at LA.

I just hope when Hemsky comes back he's 100%. If he aggravates it again we're hooped.

Agreed, no need to rush it, also if it's decided that he's to be traded, it's tough to do so when he's on the limp. It gives us a longer look at Omark as well which IMO is a good thing. The longer the look the better chance of them deciding if he's in the long term plans or not.

...expect Ales Tues.
- Gene Principe's Twitter

Quote:
Hindsight being what it is--always 20-20--maybe Oilers' winger Ales Hemsky shouldn't have tried to play on a leg and a prayer in Montreal Dec. 1.

When he went for an MRI after the team returned home from a three-game road trip to 0ttawa, Montreal and Toronto, they discovered some major damage.

"I had a tear in my groin muslce," said Hemsky, finally letting the badly-kept secret out of the bag after a Boxing Day skate at Rogers Arena before the Oilers take on the red-hot Canucks. "They said it would be four to six weeks but I come back from injuries pretty fast. I'm ready to go."
Quote:
He will likely get him in Tuesday at Rexall Place against the Buffalo Sabres.
Quote:
"The groin was sore in Montreal, but I wanted to help the team because I had already missed three games," said Hemsky, who didn't want to second-guess suiting up against the Canadiens with the Oilers rallying in the third on goals by Hemsky and Sam Gagner, and Dustin Penner's overtime winner. "There's no reason to look back. I thought it was the right decision. had never had this before I thought I could get through it. But I could feel it in my stride. I couldn't push. That was a tough game."

"I came back, had an MRI and that's when they found the groin tear," said Hemsky. Going into the Canucks' game, the Oilers are 4-4-1 without Hemsky.

Say what you want about the Kids and they have been good but Hemsky is still the straw that stirs the drink. 3 points on half a groin, now that's a hockey player.

At this point they should consider dressing Hemsky just to play on the power play, even if he can't yet manage anything else. Yech.

Agreed, it seems since he has gone down that we have had a significant decrease in offense.

Id go with:

Paajarvi-Gagner-Hemsky
Hall-Horcoff-Eberle
Penner-Cogliano/Brule-Omark
Cogs/Brule-Fraser-Jones
