Vancouver/Calgary

I've never made a thread here at my home away from home, and there is a good chance my first one will be regrettable and forgettable.

But here it goes anyways:

To Van- Iginla, Glencross

To Cgy- Raymond, Bieksa, Schneider, pick/prospect

I'm not one for trading away youth and the future but imo the Canucks are as close as they've ever been to being ready to win it all and I think this puts us over the top. Works for Calgary too as far as I'm concerned.

I'm obviously no capologist as I don't think this would even fit under the cap; especially when Salo returns. But i'm still interested in hearing your opinions on the principle of the trade.

Sedin Sedin Burrows
Iggy Kesler Tambellini
Torres Malholtra Sammy
Glencross Bolduc Hansen

Giggity.

going to McDonalds Play Place to get the kids out of the Wife's hair. Be back in a couple of hours.... be nice.

Mind telling me why Calgary considers this?? Giving up their franchise player and one of their top penalty killers for a 2nd line player, a severely mediocre Dman and a young goalie who cannot replace Kiprusoff? Unless the prospect coming back is Hodgeson, this is a terrible deal for Calgary. And even if Hodgeson comes back, I wouldn't do it.

Besides, where does Vancouver find all the cap space for Iggy?

Terrible proposal.

PS: Iginla plays RW, not LW.

1. Calgary doesn't accept.
2. Cap situation is even worse, because we have less options to free up the required cap space.
3. We will have no backup goalie.

I'd love to have Iginla. He is the ideal Captain, since Yzerman retired.

Kesler is not moving. Niether is Iginla.

Imagine facing Kesler for the next ten years in a Flames uniform!

This proposal is not as crazy as my Luongo for Lecavilier daydream. That's craziness.

Happy Holidays. I am off to smoke a yule log.

I like you Eddy, seriously I do. But you should buy yourself a good donut pillow to make it more comfortable for you when monkeys fly out of your butt. That's gonna happen long before that trade ever does.

I'd like to trade a low pick for Tim Jackman. He's a good 4th line player who fights when needed and can chip in a bit and hit. Much better than Rypien and can actually fight the big guys unlike the 4th liners we have now.

He'd be a great 13th forward heading into the playoffs.

A trade like that would literally make calgarypuck explode. They would all find the nearest bridge to jump off because they wouldn't be able to stomach Iginla in a canuck jersey, or heaven forbid Jerome holding the cup in a Canuck jersey.

I'm not sure how terrible or good this trade proposal is, but I don't see Iggy going anywhere, hes a franchise player, I don't ever see him being traded. Non the less Glencross is an attainable player. He has been a health scratch for a while now. I want to see him as a Canuck.

Pretty much the only reason I would like to see this trade happen is just to say calgary **** their pants.

Can't think of any other reason, though.

As dumb as Sutter is, I really don't see him trading Iggy to Vancouver or anybody in the WC.

You just never know with Sutter though.

Though I like Glencross, Glass plays a pretty similar role for the Canucks.

If the Canucks did trade for Glencross, Shirokov would likely be a player the Flames would be most interested in from the Canucks. The biggest problem would be if the Canucks could fit Glencross' salary in under the cap. Shirikov doesn't affect the Canucks cap problem right now.

How about a trade that involved Glencross and Morrison for Bieksa?

I would definitely consider it. When salo comes back, the logical player to trade is bieksa.

Glencross/Mo will really strengthen our bot 6

sedin-sedin-burrows
raymond-kesler-tambellini
glencross-mo-sammy
torres-malhotra-hansen

We get much deeper up front, and still have 5 top 4 dman in ehrhoff-edler-hamhuis-ballard-salo.

Well, I'm not as high on Iggy as most other posters...so I don't see this proposal quite as ourageously one-sided as some seem to think.

But...I've watched a lot of Flame games these past two years and I can really see the decline in Iginla. He spends way too much time cherry picking and is not as responsible as people think. Good leader, nice guy but I don't see him as the guy.

While you are correct, you forgot to mention that Iginla is washed up, over the hill and overpaid for the remaining amount of his contract.

I wouldnt take Iginla personally as he'd simply ruin the chemistry and slow down whatever line he's on with his lack of speed.

Not worth the assets it would take to get him.

Always liked Iginla, and would love to see him in the top 6 ...but this is unrealistic on many levels, as has been detailed above.

it does raise a good question though -- who is the deadline player that would put the canucks over the top ?

obviously cap is the huge issue, plus the chemistry we have with current guys .... but remember when the Wings acquired Shanny that year of their first cup ... who's that player for us? (yes, i know it was a pre-cap world)

is it just Sami Salo?
is it a trade like Bieksa for Langenbrunner?
is it noone, given our cap situation?

Merry Christmas
