Terasenko is a horse! Never mind Fowler, I'm already dreading Terasenko blossoming into a star while we wind up with a serviceable 2nd pair Dman. I like McIrath, but Damn Tera was head and shoulders better than anybody on the ice tonight.

I want to see Kreider and Bourque light it up tonight, but I have to work tomorrow. Hope they light it up against the Finns, who have a nice little team that can make some noise.

I honestly think we might at some point, but we can't figure that out now. It's been 5 months since the draft, we won't know if we made the wrong pick for at least 5-6 years.

I think McIrath will be exactly as billed. And you are probably right that time will tell, but Terasenko makes things happen every shift. He had the Candaiens backing up or missing every time up ice.

Would be nice if we could correctly spell the name of the individual we regret not selecting:

Tarasenko*

You've watched one game. One game is all it takes to regret not drafting a player?

I know. It's so painful to even think about. Getzlaf, Weber, Backes, Parise, Richards, Brown.

It's not painful if you don't think about it... Move on.

If people would stop mentioning it on here everytime McIlrath comes up, it'd be a much easier task.

It doesn't bother me at all... I don't live my life worrying about things that could have been in hindsight....

Oh, and if we didn't draft Bobby Sanguinetti, the Flyers wouldn't have Claude Giroux right now....

See, why play this game?

I've always been more in the Tarasenko court in the "WE SHOULD'VE PICKED X INSTEAD OF BIG MAC".

That being said...We didn't pick Tarasenko. Oh well. I've put all my chips on Big Mac and I don't care what happens with Vlad T. or Fowler.

Tarasenko looked dominant here....really really solid in all aspects of the game. Still though, as of right now, with the way the KHL is going, i dont think id ever select a russian in the first round anymore. especially not one who plays for his fathers team.

We won't regret it simply because Tarasenko didn't end up on a division rival. He'll blossom into a star in St. Louis and get next to no recognition so it won't be hard to forget about him. I really like the player though and would have loved to have him in the system here.

I really regret us taking Brendl and then Lundmark instead of that Zetterberg kid back in '99

Not to mention the fact that we weren't the only ones to pass on these guys and some of these guys while nhlers aren't exactly game changers..

EVERY team that picked 16 or higher could have had-

Parise
Getzlaf
Richard
Perry

With the exception of Carolina (Staal) and Philly (Carter), every team that picked 16 or higher would swap the guy they picked for one of the above....

That has been my stance since the draft. To be fair it is early but I have seen nothing to date that would get me to change my position.

Absolutely in my opinion. I love Gordie Clark, but I completely disagree with him on this one.

And I'm sure that troubles him deeply.

Does it matter? They're stuck with the pick and that's that.

In 2004, I wanted to buy Google stock but then did not. Let's all cry about that.

I don't really know how anyone can say dmac was a horrible pick or a bust when he hasn't even played in the NHL or ahl for that matter. And tarasanko played 1 game in the national spotlight and people act as if were doomed because we didn't take this guy. Ill give d-mac 2-3 years before passing serious judgement. Also the whole fowler over dmac and now tarasenko over dmac debates are getting really old I sware someone needs to sticky a "Dylan Mciilrath dissapointment thread" or a "we should have taken X over d-mac" thread to keep the whining contained.

Exactly. Nail on the head. These topics are so beyond useless, and this argument has been done to death. ESPECIALLY because they are different types of players and because scouting is generally pretty hit or miss that so much time is wasted on baseless conversations and Internet/Youtube scouts. And hindsight is SOOO easy to comment on (Insert all people who "saw promise" in Brian Boyle in last years play)

I freely admit that he would've been my pick. But it really depends on several factors, including who the Rangers have as scoring forwards and whether McIlrath becomes what they've missed. I don't think you can compare it to 2003. Different kind of draft, different players on the board and, frankly, I think McIlrath is a better prospect than Jessiman ever was.
