Kaberle to SJ?

I hope DW is negociating for Kaberle not for Beauchemin

Kaberle for Seto+Wallin+Huskin

Kaberle is ufa and i don't think he will sign with the Sharks for next year

Setoguchi is RFA and he is the key player of the trade. He know the coach RW and he will sign with the Leafs for the next year.Huskin and Wallin are cap space.

After this trade DW can bring back CHEECHOO!!!!!!!!!!

After this trade, Doug Wilson can show himself the door as the GM because that is a stupid trade to make.

I don't see the Leafs doing that when they're already loaded with defensemen, and I don't see the Sharks doing this because Kaberle would leave us next year with no immediate replacement or bargaining chips. We would also lose even more youth, not to mention Wallin has a no trade clause.

Kaberle clings to the leafs like a baby being breastfed, there is no way he will waive his trade clause

I'd like Kaberle in teal - pretty good match i believe. THe problem is he's quoted this past off season as only wanting to waive his NTC for east coast teams which suggests that even if he comes to SJ it wold only be for this year and he'd not re-sign. This would lessen how much DW would give, thus the leafs would get more for him with a eastern based team.

Soooo, the deal you propose is *hudge* overpayment for Kabs.

No thanks!

We'd rather re-sign him than give him up for that package.

Come on guys, losing Wallin and Huskin's contracts is almost worth Seto alone.

I would be interested in this package if the odds of resigning Kaberle were high, but he's said he doesn't want to play for a Western conference team. Speaking of which, he has a NTC clause, so it probably won't happen in the first place.

This guy is totally a troll, right?

He put the same thread in the trade rumors and free agent forum.

Anyone wanna queue up the Cheechoo train video?

You posted this on the main board and it was rejected to say the least. Just give it up. Horrible proposal. Also Leafs fans overvalue Kabs and honestly us SJ fans overvalue Seto (to a certain extent) This is just starting a huge arguement

Not only no, but hell no. Perhaps if Kaberle was 5 years younger.

Hardly, both contracts are up at season end, and if we trade away Seto, Huskins and Wallin, we lose our only real roster tradable players. Kaberle is just not enough to push us over the edge, and as such it'd just be a better call to wait until the end of the season, let huskins and wallin walk for free and not send seto away to just hurry up their departure.

There was merit to Kabs early before we set the defense, but he is now only a partial solution and not even as good a solution as Beauchemin. I would prefer to play Braun before taking on Kaberle and giving up needed depth in the system, let alone giving up Seto. Its really not even about price in this case. He just isn't the right defenseman unless we move a couple defenseman and add a couple and thats not a productive exercise either.

Kind of a non-starter for me.

He is worse than Boyle defensively by a lot. They are using Boyle for top qualcomp. Part of Boyle's minus in plus minus is being overmatched. Ideally, Boyle is matched against the other team's second best. Right now, Kabs is being matched against the opposition's third tier. Same issue with Campbell who should face 2nd and 3rd tier competition. They need a guy who is facing first tier and putting up decent offensive numbers (25-30pts/year projected out) and decent +/- relative to his current teammates on the blueline.

Just FYI, you can judge coaches on evaluating their defenders by how even the +/- is spread across the 6 blueliners. If one guy is way up, he is overmatching his competition like Murray a couple of years ago. If he is far to the negative, he is being overmatched. If a guy is + above his teammates and facing top competition, that is a #1 (eg Lidstrom). If a guy is facing the lowest competition and - below his teammates, he is a candidate for the PB, trade or contract expiration with no re-signing.
