What I find amazing is how awful the Flyers are at clearing their zones for incredibly long stretches.

It's not a recent development either.

I don't even want to think of Matt ****ing Walker in this lineup.

Danny Syvret is likely next on the depth chart should it come to that.

If Pronger and Kimmo are hurt, the "let's have average-at-best goaltending" philosophy crumbles instantly.

Oh, I know, and it's made even more glaringly obvious playing a team like Vancouver, who seemed to turn every outlet into an odd-man rush, and know where each other are. I know I'm zeroing in on the Flyers, and other teams are guilty of it -- heck, the Canucks coughed up a goal -- but they looked like they didn't know what to do with the puck when they had it.

AV can't not put out the #1 unit when the PP is due to a sucker punch. You have to at least try to make a team pay for a cheap shot. He didn't do anything inconsistent IMO.

Anyway, love playing against you guys even though the Flyers were clearly not awake today. I guess it was about time we broke a 22 year long losing streak. Hope to see you again in the Finals.

Every time I see other teams play, I notice that when they get an open ice opportunity to clear the zone, they do so, and I'm left wondering why the Flyers can't do that. It's like they think it's the pinnacle of hilarity to peg it into the opposing team's shins or chest.

I can't confirm that the 3rd line was out there... but the 4th liners had the last 50 seconds. There was a nice deflection and I was shocked it came of Volpatti's stick.

I believe they went PP Unit 1, PP Unit 2, and then the 4th line...

For the record: Look forward to an opportunity to see Philly in the Spring... you guys have a hell of a team and today's game wasn't representative of that. Pronger taking a break is a good thing for your guys...

Glad that is over. Hope Kimmo won't miss any playing time through this injury. We can't afford to lose him right now.

Well, that's why you paid dumptrucks-worth of money on more defensemen. This is hockey, guys get hurt. Someone step up and play. Carle, Coburn, and Meszaros are supposedly capable of being top-line defensemen.

Did anybody mention how effin bad the Flyers were on faceoffs tonight! You are not going to dictate the play when you lose 70% of your draws...granted Vancouver is among the best but Flyers never really did address the faceoff problem. It was def a problem in the finals...and won't be any different come this year's playoffs.

Agreed. There weren't many guys playing well tonight (JVR, Zherdev at times, the Fellowship of the Rink at times) but Kimmo was brutal. Nodl, Richards, Giroux and Carter were terrible too.

I really don't like sitting Carcillo for Shelley, it removes the 'awesome 4th line' energy option. At least Jody won't be around for the next couple - 2 game suspension coming.

Oh well, not unexpected after a stupid 8 day lay off.

Let's see what happens the rest of the week.

Well, the good teams do so. It's the unopposed lost pucks and passes into skates that are so absolutely frustrating. Richards hitting the side of the net about 18 seconds into the game, giving the Canucks their first golden opportunity. He had plenty of time, but missed ridiculously. And when they do clear their zone, it's usually a desperation clear, meaning the opposing defenseman takes the puck and moves it right back on offense. I'd like to know how they plan their puck movement in practice, because it ain't working.

Of course, nothing looked positive tonight, but these are the kinds of things that are glaring when they get their behinds handed to them.

Yeah, but without Kimmo and Pronger, Carle becomes a massive liability. Walker is hurt. Syvret....well, he's Syvret. Those guys are meant to be a supporting cast to Pronger and Timonen, but I don't see them being able to fill both of their skates. That leaves a massive void that no cushion is gonna cover.

If Kimmo is out (please God no), it will be interesting to see what Coburn and Mez can or can't do with more responsibility.

The commentators the Flyers are bottom 10 in faceoffs. Just awful, and they don't just lose them, they lose them clean. Plus, as a couple of people here have posted, there is no use practicing them since guys like Richards can't possibly get better.
