Shelley suckerpunch on Alberts...

Just wanted to point out that that type of damage is what Lucic could have done if he was looking to hurt 'Oscar' with his late punch last week. Lucic's punch looked more out of annoyance, whereas Shelley was looking to do damage. The same in some ways, but very different intent, force and result.

Alberts did not come back either.

couldn't agree more...even the bird he flipped wasn't full extension I said it before, there was no piano behind that punch; Meyer went down but you could have put Moe of the Stoogies slapping Larry or Curly and it would have felt the same to me.

Lucic's thought process was more 'biitch' when he punched him, not rage or fighting mode- atleast how I saw/felt this.

I was checking this out on the main board and decided not to comment. Some people were calling this occurrence identical to the Lucic-Meyer incident. I disagree, as many factors appear to be different.

No questionable high hit, no refusal to answer a challenge, no ref-shield, gloves weren't even dropped by Alberts, heavier blow, etc. etc.

Alas, I see this turning into a heated discussion or a locked thread. Hopefully it stays auspicious for the most part.

Puts all that "he's not that type of player" ******** we heard after the McQuaid incident in perspective, huh?

Jody Shelley is a *****, and he always has been.

completely different. Lucic hit Meyer with a jab and it was more of a shock to Meyer than something that hurt him. Shelley cocked back and threw a haymaker.

Watching this did it look like Shelley was trying to hit the other guy instead. Shelley kind of looked shocked about the punch

*nevermind, watching it again clearly shows him looking at Alberts*

Shelley's was different because he was just looking to punch people. Even after he clocked Alberts, he turned around to two others that were already dancing and started punching the Canuck in the face. He was just looking to fight. Alberts was behind another Vancouver player and Shelley used that to his advantage. He had no beef with Alberts ala Lucic with Meyer. Shelley is just an ***. End of story.

Vancouver doesn't have any, that may be part of the problem.

Not sure I get the logic. They only keep the game honest if one of their quasi union members are on the other team? Without that they take cheap shots? Wow...thats a tough one to figure.

Not sure what kind of a fighter he is, but he's sure improved his game this year over last year. He's been a solid 6th defenceman on a defence that is pretty deep. He also really lays out the hits. His nickname in Vancouver this year is the A-Train. Last year it was AHLberts.

Bieska is probably the closest they have which would be like Mark Stuart being our best fighter.

I thought Shelley wasn't that type of player, at least that's what some people here were telling me. Maybe he didn't mean to do this either....
