rangers +/- leaders

Sauer +12
Boyle +11
Gilroy +10
Feds +9
Prust +8
Staal +8

pretty interesting. just goes to show that boyle/prust/feds really is clicking as a shutdown line that chips in and that they are working well on the pk.

what do people make of sauer's and gilroy's numbers? just a consequence of being a 3rd pair who don't go up against other teams' top lines? gilroy has got his rating after playing only 23 games. Emminger is a team worst -3, so i'm not entirely sure that Sauer and gilly have their numbers padded by playing against lines 3 and 4 all the time.

Sauer has the highest +/- of all rookies.

Sauer is a good player, If he was playing against to top players like Staal and Girardi are then it would be a meaningful stat. He is very good .

when talking about defensemen +/- can be a misleading stat. what they need is to create a stat like the QB rating in football, which is a combination of +/- , giveaways, takeaways, hits, blocked shots, and points to better represent the overall play of a defenseman.

I agree +/- is a misleading stat. Redden was a plus 8 last year.
