The Flying Pizza is decent NYC-style pizza. They have locations on campus and on Bethel Road.

I'm happy they have Papa John's at Nationwide as opposed to Donatos. You're getting charged a crazy price for such a small pizza at the games, you might as well get more for your money with the thicker Papa John's pizza. With so many good independent pizza places in Columbus (Rotolos, Tommys, Panzeras, Rubinos, etc.), Jacket games are the only time I eat chain pizza.

I live in Hilliard and I'm not familiar with DiCarlo's, I may have to check it out.

It's right on Main St., KBW, just north of Downtown. It's a small place, attached to a gas station (Sunoco, I think). The pizza is square, Sicilian-style, with a thick edge and thin crust. The final cheese and meat are added after baking (the cheese melts in the box on the way home!), which means there is very little grease from the cheese or the pepperoni (but the pep isn't crunchy, either, if you like that). I grew up with it, so it's hard for me to compare with local, Columbus tastes - it's "home" to me! Let me know if you try it.

Always liked Flying, too. Johnny and Sal sold both locations to Slice of New York and they're pretty good, too. Thanks for reminding me about them, CfN, now I'm hungry!

DiCarlo's pizza reminds me of the pizza mama Delawese(Gloria Restaurant) used to make at the Saint John the Baptist festival

Geno's! Pepperoni nuggets! I would seriously fly to Columbus just for a meal there every week if I could afford it.

So take this with a grain of salt as I'm generally not a fan of Chinese food and I was extremely hungry, but Lotus Grill out by the marcus theater at 23 and 270 has the best damn chicken eggroll I've ever put in my mouth.

I grew up with Wally's Pizza out of Cambridge (and later Coshocton). I found 'The Original Steubenville Pizza Co' over by campus on E 13th Ave. Can anyone tell me if it is still there? I heard the place changed names (and maybe owners?).
I definitely will try this place in Hilliard.

Edit: scoured around and found that the place is now called 'Formaggio' but is still in the same location. Anyone around the campus area should definitely check them out. http://formaggiopizza.com/

Pizza is probably the only thing I miss by eating well. I haven't had pizza in two years. It sure tastes good but, wow, is that stuff horrible for you.

I'll might have a slice as a cheat the next time I'm in NY, but most of the pizza in Columbus isn't even worth using a cheat for.

Yes, it's still there. I've had their pizza and it's not bad, but it's really been very inconsistent. They have several different styles, including "Valley," so that may be the cause. I'll have to give them another try.

Bread, tomato, cheese, herbs, washed down with a snappy little chianti...

That's health food, bb!

What type of eating are you doing? I've been adjusting my diet lately, and it's working...normally anyone on the far side of 25 starts adding weight, and I've maintained for two straight months despite eating my usual high volume. Of course, I'm several years past 25, despite rarely acting like it.

The pizza substitute for me is just a basic Calabrese salad...tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, and a little bit of dressing. Any normal pizza toppings can be thrown in too. If I eat it like a normal person, I call it "good". If I eat it like a pretentious clown, I first put on a scarf and then call it "a deconstructed pizza, re-imagined, and served artisan-style".
