Sharks have scout at Jacket-Leaf game

TheFourthPeriod
Scouts here tonight are from: SJ, BOS, LA, VAN, PHX (2), NYR and NAS

Burke wants to make a deal. Might the Sharks have an interest in someone?

(Sharks do play Toronto in less than two weeks)

Kaberle or Beauchemin are probably the only 2 available and Kaberle would have to waive

That being said, Beauchemin is terrible this year, and was terrible last year. He's not good defensively or offensively anymore and is a turnover machine lol

if any interest its Kaberle, he's actually been pretty good this year.

On the jackets side Hejda is good when he's not injured, same as Russell

I mentioned Jan Hejda last week. CBJ isn't a good team, and Hejda is a pending UFA (rental) with a low cap hit. I'm hoping the Sharks are looking at him. He'd be a great replacement for Kent Huskins (or Wallin, but that's not happening).

Or better yet,

Boyle-Hejda (Gives Boyle the defensive defensemen he really needs to compliment him)
Murray-Demers
Vlasic-Wallin

Why do we need another bottom pairing D??

See my last post. He's a replacement for Huskins in the lineup, but I would have him on the top pairing with Boyle.

Jan Hejda is not a 5/6 dman.

I HATE the Vlasic-Wallin pairing. Vlasic is at his best with Boyle or Demers.

Folks that have an idea how many pro scouts are at every NHL and AHL game laugh at all the excitement it generates from fans.

opps, i read that as Klesla - to many e's and a's. Hejda'd be better - not sure why a contending team would want to lose a top 4 d however.

I doubt they'll be contending for long. They are what, 13th right now in the conf and could stay there for a while. Hejda is a pending UFA meaning that if CBJ continues to be out of it, they may look to move him to get something for him.

Don't know much about him. Read up on him over on the CBJ board. Sounds like he's another slow dman. If so, that's not what we need. What do you know about him?

Funny because what I know of him differs from watching him on NHL CI. I bet Wild GM can offer more, but I understand him to be a mobile puck-moving defensive dman. Not much offense, but VERY good in his own end and moving the puck. Given that we are probably aren't going to add another offensive dman, I wouldn't mind a puck moving defensive dman.

If that's the case, sounds like a good target with the right cap hit ($2m).

I thought I read somewhere back during the Kaberle debacle in the offseason that kabs said he would refuse to waive his NTC for any team in the west, and would only play for teams in the east???

Either way, at this point I would like to see him in a Sharks uniform as well.

who knows - they are a couple of wins out of a playoff spot at this point. To close to give up good players at this time, maybe at the deadline if they are really done.

I'd not heard that about him not wanting to go west, that would be good to see the link and or quote on that. Even if true, donen't mean he'd not change his mind and finally move to a contender, plus i'm sure DW and co have a great reputation with players around the NHL..

Give me Fedor Tyutin. Good size, good mobility, good both ways, bit of a rough year thus far. 1 year after this one at 2.9 mill means we don't need to look for a top 4 next year as well.
