He hasn't played on a scoring line in the NHL so I'd rather see him start on our third line against weaker lines, its not that I don't think he can be effective against other team's second lines I'd just rather see him in a better position to succeed.

He had 13 points in 13 games in December, he's been probably our best forward lately as even Plekanec is struggling offensively and if you haven't noticed the WHOLE team was cheating a lot on the road trip. Putting him on the third line now wouldn't send any message and it would be stupid to do.

With 5 centres now in the line up it seems as though Pierre isn't done trading yet. Can't see Eller or Halpren in the Press Box, or Gomez and Plekanec. Either one of Desharnais or Eller is moving to the wing, or the Habs have a move in place.

Can't wait to see the team with three offensive line finaly, Eller's passing is doubtful but his shooting is quite interesting, too bad he hasn't produced yet.

I think you can bet on desharnais playing the wing.

where he should be... only way a player of his size can survive at center in the NHL is if they have decent speed. He doesn't.

talented midget with no speed = winger.

No. Sorry but you're wrong. If you want Desharnais to have success, let him play his natural position !

Was not his biggest supporter but he made MaxPac the leading AHL goal scorer, lost him and then got Dustin Boyd 10 goals in 7 games....I want him to have more than just a limited role or short stint with the big club...I think as of now he may even be better than Eller, who is creating chances but still not producing points.

ya, well, if he wants to play his natural position than he can stay in the AHL

Besides, a center can make the transition to play the wing. It's a winger who can't be converted to center, generally.

well, eller has not shown the slightest ability to be effective on the wing and i'd much rather see desharnais play at the position that has made him one of the best players in the ahl the last 2 years.

That's because he's still developing to NHL hockey. I'm sure Eller in the future would be more than capable of holding down a winger position any NHL team.

But I would much rather see Eller over Desharnais at center -- Eller has size and great speed -- once he puts on a few pounds of muscle this summer plus with added experience, he'll be a force down the middle. That's why he should stay at center -- gain the experience of playing the position he is meant to play in.

Quite a few players have dominated in the AHL, even lead the league in scoring, without ever being able to nail down an NHL career. One of the biggest reasons for that is SIZE.

I'm not saying Desh won't be able to hold a NHL roster spot in the future; but if I had to bet I'd say he'd do so as winger not a center. He lacks the speed to compensate for the fact that he's a midget.... so center is out of the question imo.

I never saw Desharnais play, does he really lack of speed?

Not really. He lacks acceleration. Once he gets going, his speed is above average as far as I'm concerned.

They called Desharnais up just when they traded Lapierre. I guess Gauthier wanted to cover his butt before getting the fury of the fans/media.

Um, in the NHL there is ONLY acceleration. There's no time to reach your 'top speed'/ Geez. It's not speed skating dude. You have to be at top speed like NOW, not in 3 seconds or whatever.

Yeah, I dont agree. I really don't think his speed is going to be a factor, but I guess we'll see.

Well I say he doesn't lack acceleration... who you gonna believe? It's just a bunch of opinion until we can see what he can do if he is given a legitimate shot.

Me wants to see him on the powerplay with a real NHL sniper. Him and camalleri could do some PP damage if Desharnis's passes works in the NHL. I've seen a couple of games of him and Pacioretty with the Bulldogs and you have to keep your stick on the ice and you'll score ... ask Dustin Boyd
