Welcome Brett Festerling Thread

So with the trade over, we should take a chance to get to know our new player Brett Festerling.

Festerling is from Quesnel, BC and is a 6'1" defensive defenseman
Festerling somehow played 6 years in the WHL starting from age 15
He played with both the Tri-City Americans and Vancouver Giants

He may or may not have captained the Giants not sure , I found this picture but it looks shopped, and I'm not even sure this is him

From Hockeysfuture.com
Quote:
Festerling is a solid blueliner who skates well and is competent at both ends of the ice. He isn't the type of player who puts up a lot of points, but he can make a safe first pass and doesn't embarrass himself. Not that big, but not that small.

Undrafted defensive defenseman, from BC, may or may not have been a captain of a WHL franchise, plays a safe game, not big, not small, kinda seems random that we traded for him... Remind you of anyone?

For reference, he did captain the Giants in his last season with the squad.

I know another BC-born player that played for the Tri-City Americans.

Also:

Please avoid this thread turning into a "why'd we trade Lapierre" or "needs moar francophone" thread

Let's just talk about our new defenseman

Thanks

He'll probably play mostly with Hamilton that's for sure but he has player >40 games in the NHL for the past two seasons, so who knows, he could get a handful of games

Really? Gorges captained a WHL team?

Kinda what I was going for

Really the only difference is that we got Josh at age 22, not 24

Very grainy video of a player with what could be a Vancouver Giants jersey, with what appears to be a C on the chest... The title says Festerling, but the player speaking doesn't appear to have a German accent

What they trade Laps for a career AHLer? At least Laps would throw his weight around a little

Most def. a possible Josh G version 2.0

Also hometeam fans have the tendency to over rate their players...ie Max Lapierre.

Welcome Brett!

However, I bet he will join the Dogs.

The Dogs needed a dman since Carle went down with an injury and they didn't had much depth.

Nash-Festerling
Henry-Klubertanz
St-Denis.-Petruic/Urquhart
+ Maybe Weber

You wouldn't happen to know how he played for Tri-City at age 15 would you?

15-year-olds are allowed to play up to five games in the WHL.
Anaheim signed him as an undrafted player in 2005 and opted to keep him in the juniors for the extra experience (two consecutive appearances in the Memorial Cup).

Thanks Didn't know about that 5 game rule. Kind of like the 9 game entry-level rule in the NHL
