Since the best way to score in a league packed with butterfly goalies is going top shelf, my next question is...

... when is the last goal you can remember, scored by a Ranger, that was top shelf?

I honestly can't remember a single one. Maybe Gabby against Los Angeles last season.

In other news, the Islanders just traded Roloson to Tampa.

Couldn't that have happened this morning? lol

Good. This game wouldn't have been nearly as frustrating with a guy like Roloson stopping us, instead of Fatso jr. flopping around and running away with the puck like a thief after every easy stop.

This team doesn't have the top-notch skill to go top shelf on a regular basis.

Lundqvist steals 1
Deszardins (butchered) steals 2

Happy the resiliency once again came out and the Rangers could salvage a point.

I love how 40+ posts were deleted because of one comment made by an ignorant Islander fan lol

Yep Gilroy should not be sliding to block the pass. He was the only defensemen in front of the net. Sauer misplayed his man but Gilroy made a terrible decision which cost them the game. It was basically a two on two until Gilroy decided to slide and take himself out of the play.

Tonight's OT loss reminded me of the OT losses against Chicago and Montreal last year: Gilroy makes a bad defensive play that leads to him abandoning his man; Gaborik makes a half-hearted attempt at backchecking and can't get there in time to cover Gilroy's man. I wouldn't put those 2 on the ice together in OT anymore (in fact, I probably wouldn't use Gilroy in OT at all).

But I'm glad they got a point out of this game. You can never count this team out, their resiliency continues to impress me.

It's looking like it may take nearly 93 points to make the playoffs, jeesh.

1. The guy behind the net can quickly become the guy in front of the net if he's left undefended.

2. The puck BARELY snuck under Gilroy. He was right in trying to force that pass because 9 times out of 10 it doesn't get through and the play is over. If it didn't magically sneak through we'd all be praising Gilroy for the great effort and his improved play of late.

The bottom line is that they stole a point tonight. This was a good game for the Rangers, period.

Man, did the Ranger fans go bonkers when we tied it up - including me! I'm just happy we scrapped out a point. The team played real well. Just not enough offense through the slot.

Give credit, not only to their goalie, but to the Lightning's team defense. On the pucks all game.

For real, dude. That was amazing. My section was rocking with Rangers fans. Had to be 50/50 where I was in 117. I didn't know there was that many until we tied it and we all just started jumping up and down like we just won the Cup. It was great... I ran down from Row M to start giving fives and pound on the glass. I just went nuts. Too bad we **** the bed in the end. We looked like *******s lol

Pretty even. Rangers turned it over a little too much in the 1st and then some in the 2nd. Tyrell's goal was a little flukish because he lost control of the puck at the right time to sneak in......He still had a decent, though.

Then Gabs tied it. Then we fell asleep right when the 3rd ended.

All in all pretty even match, with great goaltending and decent defense from both sides.

Anisimov and Christensen both scored top shelf in that 4-1 win against the Pens
