This gets the 2011 season started for Vancouver and also 5 games in 7 days which will be tough. It will be great to get off to a good start with a win.

Agreed. Mediocre because Bolduc negates Hansen's work. Glass is decent.

With all due respect, shouldn't we wait until at least 60% or 70% of the season is over to start looking at catching other teams? The standings will change 30 times before the seasons over.

I have a bad feeling aout this game. Law of averages, we cannot win every game, and midline law tells us we will lose the one to the only team that may catch us for the division/home ice.

To the best of my knowledge, I don't think the Canucks have ever been in 1st place in the league after the early October. That's got to be worth a little celebration if the Canucks win tonight. No?

your're right, shame on him for wanting us to move into first, its pathetic we would try for that this early in the season. Personally I want the nucks to lose for a while, and then when the season is 90% done, try to gun for first, hopefully making first place overall last game of the season. Boy, now THAT is something to get excited over, what a strategy!

This first in the league talk is definitely a case of counting your chickens before they hatch.

I don't think it's about that at all, I think it's just because it's never really happened before, at any point in the season after October

Hopefully the chance to be first place in the entire league will keep the team motivated to play all out tonight. Like a bunch of you, I too have a bad feeling that this game might be a let down. Let's hope not!!!!!

All the Canucks need to do is not lose another game in regulation this season and they can match the 1976-77 Habs who only had 8 losses in 80 games.

1976-77 Montreal Canadiens 80GP 60W 8L 12T 132Pts 0.825 P% 387GF 171GA

I doubt it. I don't think we've ever been even a second seed since the Northwest Division came into existence.

The Canucks are playing this game for 1st in the entire league, a position this team often doesn't find themselves in. Hopefully they come up big as the Avs are a powerhouse and one of the better teams in the West.

Don't mean to be a pessimist but I have a feeling the Avs will get their first win against the Canucks this year in a high scoring 6-4 win.
