I've heard he's toned it down and doesn't fight as much now. But I can't wait to see one of his bone crushing hits. I took a look today on youtube, Wow he can surely dish out some huge hits.

Could not agree more.

I wonder if he's even worth half of his 3.833M salary. Zero offense and more boneheaded defensive plays then we get from Subban or Weber.

He will have his moments where he is fine though.

The problem is, I've heard from a lot of Ducks fans AND Islanders fans and both say the same thing ; he starts off playing out of his mind good, and after about ten games, he drops back down to earth and plays decent-to-sub par defensively.

I hope the trend is broken. Personally, with the Habs system, The Wiz may be set to succeed for the long run.

Give it to him, we have MORE then enough money off the D corps coming off the books, it would be ridiculous not to resign him hes technically better, currently too, than all 4 Dmen coming off the capbooks

its priority , and id even give him 4 years.

Carbonneau is way worse than Brunet, I'd say. I can't stand listening to him.

58. He was pretty sturdy along the boards on the forecheck. I remember last year one game against the Bruins we had White, Trotter and Desharnais as a fourth line and they generated a great deal of pressure in offensive zone but were unable to cash in. Obviously Desharnais has some talent, but there are question marks about his size. I think he deserves a shot.

I've heard that as well, hopefully though he fully buys into Martin's system, and doesn't try to do too much on his own. I think if Martin can control the Wiz, things will be fine.

Agreed...I like Hamrlik as well..He's not the work horse he once was but I would welcome him back in a number 5 or 6 role as long as he's willing to take significantly less money.

I'd rahter keep Hammer then Spacek if I had the choice.
Move Spacek for peanuts to anyone who wants him the give Hammer 4.5 over two years to play the 5 6 role!

Here's the thing that has my head scratching. The staff and the fans both say the same thing ; in order for the PP to succeed, we need a good point shot.

We had Souray, we let him go.
We had Streit, we let him go.
We had Schneider, we let him go.
We had MAB, we let him go.

Now we have Wiz, will he be next on the list to go? Or will the Habs actually SIGN the guy that is HELPING our PP SUCCEED.

Or we can go back to trying Spacek as the point guy to shoot. Again...

With Hammer gone next year, Wiz at 3.5-4 per would not be a bad price for him, he was making the Isles over pay for him to stay too. Habs need to bury Spacek in the minors next year as his contract can't be bought out as he is over 35 when signed, or try to get a Euro team to take him ala Huet.
Markov will need to be signed to a very conservative contract, or not retained at all cause of the question marks.

I think Weber needs regular NHL time by now. He is going to make mistakes but I think he has the potential to be a brainy d man.

Also lets not forget he's only 26 and most D-man take time to adjust to the NHL. I thin he's just entering his prime and more mature to accept a certain role and know his limitations.

Exactly my thoughts as well.

Stick to the system five-on-five, and keep putting up points on the PP, and I have no problem with the Habs re-signing him. But I've seen guys with PP success on this team come and go. Year after year.

I thought he played a regular shift, no? He has some great offensive hockey-sense for sure, seems to know how to move himself within his limits when defending too, smart player.

That's an average cap hit of $4.25m, which is probably about right for him. Marek Zidlicky makes $4m, Tom Gilbert $4m, Ryan Whitney $4m, Mark Streit $4,1m and Tomas Kaberle makes $4,25m.

He's in that group of defencemen that can produce offensively but also have defensive issues, so $4m - $4,25m is probably what it's going to cost to sign him.

We need to buy out Spacek this off-season. He sucks so bad. Easily our worst defenseman.

Wow really.. I guess that wouldn't get it done then.. Would 4 years 17 - 18 million (4.25 - 4.5 per season) be worth it to keep Wiz.. We do have Hammer's 5.5 coming off the books..If he keeps up his scoring pace he will probably get around 5 million from some team as a UFA..
