Jordan Eberle - Sprained Ankle, out 10 days - Dreger

Eberle has a left ankle injury & will not return tonight. #Oilers

- Oilers Twitter

let`s hope this is a shorter term...

UPDATE: Eberle hasn't had an MRI yet, but he says the ankle feels great. No more boot cast. He'll sit a couple but it looks like best case scenario.

UPDATE:

@DarrenDreger
Darren Dreger
Word is Jordan Eberle suffered a sprained ankle and is out for 10 days.

@JasonGregor
Jason Gregor
Nothing broken with Eberle's ankle...He won't play this week...and is two or three weeks depending on how he heels.

Another one. So far this year: Our #1 goalie. #1 dman and 3 of our best forwards.

No different than last year. What are the Oilers doing wrong?

I hope it isn't as bad as it looked. The injuries are really starting to pile up again.

Please call up Omark for the next game Oilers.

Trade him before he gets a reputation for being injury prone

And the 3 years before that too.
We are seriously the most injury prone team in the NHL.

Again further proof that having an enforcer does not mean no injuries. Yet we continue to burn 3 of our forward roster spots on reactionary bottom of the barrel athletes who are supposed to keep our streets safe, but rarely have a positive impact on the game. Jacques in for Paajarvi, Strudwick in for Petry, good thing we dressed that extra toughness tonight, it really backed the Flames off tonight.

Eberle's x-ray's were negative. Meaning, no break. Definitely going to be diagnosed as a sprain. WHich is a slight tear of an ankle tendon. I'd speculate a level 2. Could be 2-4 weeks. Just my thoughts. Good news is that there is no break but a level three sprain would almost be worse. It is a left ankle after all. Great reporting Oakes.

This is good news. I would like to hear some more confirmations that this is indeed an ankle injury. Anyone that has anything, please report it.

Renney said it himself in the post game interview. That is the best source. An MRI will likely take place tomorrow. Depends on the swelling.

Thanks Grod. When it comes to a possible knee injury vs. an ankle injury... well that's all I was worried about.

It was a freak accident not a cheapshot. There could've been a sniper dot on Kotalik's chest and he still would've had the tangle up.

I didn't think it was dirty, but imo it was a hold that maybe at least deserved a penalty... not that the refs were calling holds or interference on calgary anyways

I think that's kinda his point... how many of our injuries this season (or last) (or the one before that) would an enforcer have prevented...

Lose-lose battle to me. How can you prove how many hits an enforcer might've prevented in any given game?

Enforcers arent there to prevent injuries.

Five points to anyone who can guess why they are there.

People that have played the game at a level where hitting and fighting were commonplace are not eligible.

Participants have 24hrs to claim their prize or it will be returned back into the prize pool. Management reserves the right to disqualify anyone they see fit for no particular reason at all.

Not like it makes a difference to poor Eberle, but how does Kotalik NOT get a holding penalty on that play? ****.

Ugh, I'm depressed. This team's bad enough when they're healthy but at least there was the chance of something fun happening. Hall looks like he's in a bit of a confidence funk at the moment but I hope they put Hemsky on that line with him and Gagner. Only having one line going offensively would still be better than none of them.

As for the enforcer talk, I always loved playing hockey when the biggest baddest player was on my team. You have that extra get up and go, everyone does. You play excited, like a kid loaded with energy.

When the big meanies play for the other team, sometimes your defeated before you ever step on the ice.

In all honesty, when you're playing, you don't really even feel the hits 99% of the time but it feels great to rock someone or see the opposition get rocked. It's a mental switch, it's human nature.
