This Tuesday (Jan 4) MDA puts on their 14th annual Muscle Team Event at Chelsea Piers for the benefit of people with neuromuscular diseases. Russ Salzberg is the MC and in addition to some good food you can mingle with Dubinsky as well as numerous Jets, Giants, and other local athletes. You can get autographs, bid on great sports memorabilia - there's a lot of hockey stuff - (I picked up an autographed picture of Messier holding the Cup in the past), and have a pretty good time.
I have some medical business to attend to that morning but assuming that goes OK I'll be volunteering with the staff, looking for interesting stuff to bid on and maybe asking Dubie why he didn't bash Dominic Moore's face in for running Henrik.
Sorry that I couldn't answer some questions but my computer was out for a few days. Most of the events are open to walk-ins but it turned out that this one was only open to sponsors.
Anyway, a good time was had by all. Dubie's a real nice guy. I asked him how Callahan was doing and unfortunately he said not too well. We really need him back. He was very polite and thanked me for asking. He picked up some memorabilia, as did I. I got matching autograph photos of Richter stopping the Bure penalty shot in the '94 finals and Lunqvist stopping a shot with both photos in one frame. Dugay showed up as well as a host of retired local players.
If you are able to and want to contribute to charities keep an eye out for MDA sponsored events. They often have athletes and very rare - and authentic - unlike Ebay - memorabilia and souvenirs.
