Jens Westin hit into open bench door in SEL
VIDEO
Looked pretty brutal but apparently he was OK and finished the game. Could have been a lot worse.
(I know it's not NHL but I didn't know where else to put it)

Door was opened just when opposing player was hit towards it. Not nice.

That looks like it could have been pretty dangerous.
I'm glad he's okay.
It looks like the door opens right before he hits it though, it's weird.

Hope the idiot who opened the door gets suspended. That's ridiculous.

Wow, I wonder what they'll do with Svedberg after this one.
I never hear much in the way of disciplinary measures handed down in the SEL, are suspensions common?

Yeah... if I were the guy hit into the bench, Svedberg better hope he's never in net against me. You can bet I would be running him with intent to injure.
That's just messed up

Wow, nobody is even attempting to change lines. He has no reason to open the door. That's dirty, and he should be suspended.

That's how Scott Gomez got his pelvis broken during the lockout year when he was playing in the ECHL. Dumped the puck in at his bench, turned to do a line change and got smoked in the back into his own open door by Ashlee Langdone.

They shouldn't even have doors in men's leagues.

Great hit. But a unique intent to injure by whoever did it (on the bench). There needs to be a suspension there, can't have guys pulling stuff like that.

he should have a stick whacked across his head.
an intent to injure move just for the hell of it. That's so wrong.

The door probably isn't closing at first and Svedberg tries to shut it again, but with poor timing. I'd like to think.
Or he is just plain stupid and should be suspended.

They don't really need the doors, unless there's an injury.

For some reason, you didn't find the "Sweden" forum acceptable?

It hasn't happened to me personally, but there has been players cut by skates jumping over the boards. I like the doors cause if you have 5 guys coming off that means 5 guys coming on, so you have 10 guys whipping their skates over the boards almost simultaneously. I think you would see a lot more injuries without doors than with them.
