Throwing some **** at the wall in the Avs forum and came up with Stastny for Miller. Avs need solid goaltending and Buffalo, who I'd imagine will be rebuilding, could use a no. 1 center going into the future.
As a fan of both teams I like it.
My only question is.........
What are the Avalanche willing to add. Don't get me wrong here, it is almost fair value, but Miller affords the Avs a clear run this and next season at the Cup. What's that worth to the Avs faithful on top of Stastny? A 1st round pick in 2012? Or perhaps two 2nd round picks, 2011/2012?
I don't think Miller would struggle as much but seeing as our team loves undersized PP Dmen not sure how thats going to change.
Miller's not doing that hot in Buffalo, and our defence is much worse. Without Stastny we become a 1 line team since theres no way O'Reilly is ready to take Stastny's place.
Management does love offensive dmen, but it doesn't mean they love undersized ones. I'm sure they would love to get a two-way dman, so we need to continue to draft and build assets until one is available somewhere down the line.
If I were Colorado, I would retain my centers and seek a more affordable stopgap goaltender.
Anderson is an affordable stopgap. The Avs need to replace 3 dmen, Wilson, Hunwick and Foote should all be gone after this season. An upgrade on O'Byrne would be nice as well, but hes a cheap bottom six guy.
