1997: Mike York
In the sixth round of the 1997 draft the New York Rangers made Michigan State center Mike York the 136th overall pick. When he reached the Rangers in the 1999-2000 season, he made an instant impact.
As a rookie, York led the Rangers with 26 goals in his 82 games played and finished the season third in the Calder Trophy race as the league's top rookie. Near the end of his third season with the Rangers, he was dealt to the Edmonton Oilers for a draft pick, Tom Poti and Rem Murray.
In his career, York has scored 98 goals and 137 assists for 235 points in his 374 career games.
